Title: Software Engineer I

We are looking for a Software Engineer I to help build, evaluate, and improve AI-powered computer-use systems that can operate real software and complete complex computer-based tasks. This role will own technical workflows end to end, including implementation, validation, testing, documentation, and ongoing maintenance.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Build, evaluate, and maintain AI-powered systems designed to perform real-world computer tasks.
• Design and maintain benchmarks, evaluation frameworks, test suites, and validation workflows.
• Own complex, long-running technical projects from implementation through validation, documentation, and follow-through.
• Investigate discrepancies across code, configuration, infrastructure, models, and experimental results.
• Develop reproducible testing methodologies and clearly document findings.
• Write high-quality, maintainable code with strong automated testing practices.
• Apply deployment and risk-management practices such as canary releases, rollbacks, monitoring, and validation.
• Identify weak implementations, technical risks, and code-quality issues and provide clear, actionable feedback.
• Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools effectively within engineering workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering, AI/ML, product, operations, and other cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on experience building production-quality systems.
• Experience with AI/ML model training.
• Strong proficiency with Python and PyTorch.
• Experience with at least one of the following areas:
  • ML evaluation and benchmarking
  • Distributed systems
  • Developer infrastructure
  • Large-scale testing
• Experience designing, maintaining, or evolving benchmarks and test suites as models, APIs, or infrastructure change.
• Strong debugging and experimental discipline, including the ability to isolate complex technical issues and produce reproducible conclusions.
• Strong knowledge of software testing, code quality, reliability, and engineering best practices.
• Familiarity with deployment strategies such as canary releases and rollbacks.
• Experience using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar tools.
• Ability to independently own complex technical workflows from start to finish.
• Strong communication skills and comfort providing and receiving direct technical feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proficiency with Rust and/or TypeScript.
• Experience with server-side engineering or infrastructure development.
• Experience building highly available, reliable, or distributed production systems.
• Experience with ML infrastructure, evaluation platforms, experimentation systems, or developer tooling.
• Experience maintaining large-scale automated testing or benchmark infrastructure.
• Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source projects.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
