About the Role

We are seeking a Solution Architect focused on Institutional Clients to serve as a senior, hands-on technology leader with architectural ownership for the platforms and solutions that support Wellington Management’s institutional client relationships. This role sits within Wellington’s Client Platform Technology group, which is responsible for building and evolving platforms that support client engagement and distribution capabilities across the firm. The position emphasizes technical depth, platform stewardship, and cross-functional influence rather than people management.

The Solution Architect for Institutional Clients will translate complex business requirements from Marketing, Sales, Relationship Management, and Client Servicing into scalable, well-governed technology solutions. This role partners closely with other architects, engineering teams, data and analytics groups, and senior business stakeholders to deliver platforms that enhance the institutional client experience and support Wellington’s global distribution capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide architectural ownership for technology solutions supporting institutional client lifecycle management, including onboarding, servicing, reporting, and relationship analytics.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to ensure institutional client solutions align with Wellington’s broader enterprise architecture, integration patterns, and long-term platform strategy.
  • Act as a senior technical advisor, working directly with business partners in relationship management, client service, and investment operations to translate requirements into clear, well-designed technology solutions.
  • Guide solution design with deep understanding of asset management, related technology, data integration frameworks, client reporting infrastructure, and institutional workflow tooling.
  • Establish and uphold architectural standards and best practices across integrations, data modeling, security, and platform governance relevant to the institutional client domain.
  • Review designs and significant enhancements to ensure solutions are consistent, maintainable, and aligned with enterprise risk and compliance controls in a regulated financial services environment.
  • Partner with engineers and delivery teams to ensure architectural intent is carried through implementation, ongoing evolution, and day-to-day platform operations.
  • Work effectively with distributed and remote teams across the globe, contributing to design discussions, reviews, and decision-making in a collaborative, inclusive manner.
  • Support data strategy initiatives by ensuring institutional client data is well-modeled, governed, and accessible for reporting, analytics, and regulatory obligations.
  • Mentor engineers and business analysts, helping raise overall architectural maturity within the institutional client technology domain.
  • Ensure solutions meet Wellington’s enterprise controls, data protection standards, and audit expectations, with particular sensitivity to client confidentiality and regulatory considerations.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in technology roles, including substantial experience designing and delivering solutions in an institutional asset management or financial services environment.
  • Proven experience operating as a lead-level individual contributor, with responsibility for architectural decisions and cross-functional technical direction.
  • Strong background in client data management, and enterprise integration patterns relevant to institutional client operations.
  • Solid understanding of institutional client workflows, including client onboarding, , investment reporting, and relationship management lifecycle.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences and influence outcomes and technology direction without formal authority.
  • Experience working within regulated environments with familiarity with data privacy, client confidentiality, and financial services compliance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience architecting solutions supporting institutional client servicing, client reporting, or distribution capabilities within an asset management firm.
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns and multi-system environments, including data warehouses, reporting platforms, and middle/back-office systems.
  • Exposure to client data analytics, performance reporting infrastructure, and regulatory reporting platforms
  • Experience working with globally distributed teams across regions and time zones.
  • Relevant technology certifications are a plus.
  • Experience with Agentic Development Tools and emerging AI capabilities applied to client servicing or operational workflows.
