Staff Accountant I (Entry-Level)

Join Our Growing Finance Team

Cash-Wa Distributing, a Performance Food Group (PFG) company, is a leading foodservice distributor serving customers throughout the Midwest. As our business continues to grow, we are investing in our Finance team and adding a Staff Accountant I to support our Fargo operation.

Due to continued business growth and the increasing needs of our Finance team, Cash-Wa Distributing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant I to join our Fargo location. This newly added position provides an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career accounting professional to gain hands-on experience in financial reporting, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and accounting process improvement while supporting a growing organization.

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, this role will support the accounting operations of our Fargo division while developing the technical and analytical skills necessary for long-term career growth within the organization.

What You'll Do

• Assist with month-end close activities and financial statement preparation
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end analyses
• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies
• Reconcile processed transactions by verifying entries and comparing system reports to account balances
• Maintain and support general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, and purchasing modules
• Organize and maintain accounting records and financial documentation in accordance with company policies
• Assist in developing and improving accounting processes, workflows, and efficiencies
• Support the timely and accurate distribution of financial information and reporting
• Partner with operations and other departments to support accounting and financial objectives
• Participate in audits, special projects, and other assignments as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and pivot tables
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees at all levels
• Ability to successfully complete a background check and drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

• Internship, accounting clerk, bookkeeping, or related accounting experience
• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Experience with ERP or accounting software systems
• Interest in pursuing professional certifications
