Performs professional accounting and administrative work in the analysis of revenues and expenditures for the Town. Reconciles bank accounts and balance sheet accounts, prepares journal entries; prepares schedules for the audit and budget. Work is performed under the supervision of the Assistant Finance Director.The following duties are those considered most essential to the position. This does not preclude the delegation of other duties considered as necessary by management to successfully complete an assignment or project.
Knowledge of governmental accounting and budgeting principles, rules and regulations; knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, procedures and equipment; knowledge of principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting; ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions and follow work procedures; ability to perform mathematical computations with speed and accuracy; ability to prepare complete and accurate reports from various accounting data; thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
Bachelor's degree with coursework in accounting or related field and three years of experience in accounting, budgeting or finance. Or a combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills to complete the essential functions and job responsibilities of this position.
Possession of an appropriate driver's license valid in the State of North Carolina.This position’s physical requirements involve sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities may be required: fingering, hearing, lifting, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, talking, and/or visual acuity.
Work has no exposure to environmental conditions. Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office with computer printers, light traffic).
