Tax Analyst

POSITION LOCATION

This position is hybrid in Richmond, VA, in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday and remote Monday and Friday.

YOUR ROLE

As a Finance team member, you’ll play a key role in supporting the financial strength and flexibility that enables us to be there when our policyholders need us – now and in the future. The tax department of Genworth is looking for a State Tax Analyst to join our growing team. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest degree of accuracy, timeliness, and accountability while preparing premium tax estimates and returns, property tax filings and payments, municipal tax returns and payments and state income tax and franchise tax returns and payments. You will be preparing accounting entries as necessary for all state tax processes. You will support our insurance businesses and assist with the preparation and review of the federal, state, and investments compliance for those legal entities. You will also assist with tax accounting for quarterly and annual reporting requirements. You will work with a cross-functional team of tax professionals, as well as business partners, to ensure the highest level of quality in our tax compliance and reporting processes. What you will be doing

• Prepare premium tax annual returns and payments for multiple entities and states and workpapers as well as needed accounting entries
• Prepare state and local income tax and franchise tax estimates and annual returns and payments for multiple entities and states and workpapers as well as any need accounting entries
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger tax accounts and prepare internal reporting
• Responsible for state correspondence related to audits, notices and assessments
• Reconcile data between systems to ensure integrity and accuracy in reporting and filing
• Assist in special projects, as needed
• Assist with the preparation and review of the federal, international, and state income tax returns for members of the consolidated group, as well as separate company filings
• Prepare and review quarterly and annual GAAP and STAT tax provisions for insurance and corporate entities
• Serve as lead process owner for certain technical areas included in the company’s provision and compliance processes
• Assist in the gathering and preparation of documentation related to the company's tax provisions

What you bring

• AS or BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1+ year of experience in tax accounting, compliance and reporting
• Basic working knowledge of state tax compliance processes
• Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and ASC 740
• Ability to communicate across all levels within the organization (both verbal and written)
• Ability to effectively work independently
• Ability to adapt to changes in business needs and respond quickly
• Ability for improving efficiency and effectiveness in processes and tasks
• Knowledge and experience conducting tax research databases, such as Checkpoint
• Strong analytical skills, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete projects in a timely manner

Nice to Have

• CPA, CPA eligible, or Master’s equivalent
• Public Accounting experience (Big 4 a plus)
• Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision (OTP) and ONESOURCE Income Tax (OIT) Software
• Exhibit flexibility, creativity and initiative in providing solutions

ADDITIONAL

• This role is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Compensation Range: $68,900-$90,000

Disclaimer: This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
