POSITION TITLE: IT Specialist
REPORTS TO: IT Lead Specialist/ Director of Technology

POSITION SUMMARY: Setting up hardware, install and configure software and drivers. Maintaining and
repairing technological equipment (e.g. Chromebooks, Desktops, Laptops, Thin clients) or peripheral devices.

FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
Essential Functions
1. Troubleshoot and fix hardware and software related issues in assigned schools.
2. Setup, diagnose, and repair Chromebooks, Laptops, desktops, thin clients in assigned schools.
3. Maintain all computer labs in assigned schools.
4. Provides problem determination assistance to support service personnel involved in computer usage.
5. Acts as liaison and maintains open line of communications with computer software vendors and District data
processing department.
6. Keeps abreast of new developments in data processing systems as they relate to the support services areas.

Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the
performance of the functions of this job:

1. Standing, walking, sitting, reaching, grasping, talking, hearing.
2. Normal attention with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less as well as 20 feet or more, ability to adjust
eyes to bring objects into sharp focus and ability to ID and distinguish colors, all required.
3. Light physical demand with regular lifting of very light to light (1 to 25 lbs.) items and rare lifting of
Average items (25 to 60 lbs.) by hand.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the
performance of the functions of this job.

POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education: Thorough knowledge of a specialized or technical field such as computer technology and its applications,
involving a thorough skills knowledge plus the application of basic theory. Equivalent to high school plus additional broad
specialized training equal to two years of college.

Experience: Requires a minimum of one year up to and including three years of experience in computer technology and
various automated systems.

Skills and Abilities, which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly, associated with this position:
1. Apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form.
2. Manage problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

3. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure. Perform the operations with like common and decimal

fractions. Compute ratios, rates, and percentages.
4. Perform reading, writing, and speaking at an intermediate level.

Required Certifications: None required at time of hire. Google & Dell certifications required required within one year of employment.
