The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF), Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, is seeking an Airport Operations Specialist to join our team and help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing:
Submission of background checks required for airport badging and reconciliation and processing of background check results. Facilitate required training and accurately produce airport badges. Other duties include issuance of required public and airside vehicle permits, billing for Airport Badge Office services, preparing and uploading various required reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, processing various audits required by federal regulation.

Every individual working at the airport must hold an airport badge, meaning several thousand individuals pass through the Airport Badge Office yearly. The incumbent is an integral part of ensuring individuals are vetted and badged properly so they may perform their job duties and help to keep the airport operating safely and securely.

Who we are looking for:
To be successful in this position, the selected applicant will possess the following core competencies:

Six months of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience. (Three semester or four quarter hours of post-secondary education are equal to one month of experience; 150 hours of vocational education are equal to one month of experience.)
Special Note:
Examples of advanced clerical experience include:
-Reviewing complex or questionable applications or documents and searching files and regulations to determine accuracy of information to clarify applicant status; using judgment in applying criteria, rules, regulations, and policies; providing information to organizational unit staff on administrative processes and procedures; tracking expenditures; and completing necessary administrative paperwork according to regulations.
-Composing letters and memoranda; completing and reviewing forms for completeness and accuracy using readily available information from multiple sources and established guidelines and procedures. Examples of such tasks include time sheets, appointment paperwork, or required drug testing notifications for employees in positions requiring possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).**NOTE: PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY**

AIRPORT SECURITY BADGE
Candidates for this position must be eligible for an airport identification badge in accordance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations (49 CFR 1542) (Download PDF reader) which requires fingerprinting and a criminal background check. The successful applicant must pass a fingerprint-based criminal history record check as well as a comprehensive background investigation, along with a Transportation Security Administration Security Threat Assessment
