- Those candidates who currently hold or have held a typing position that requires 40 words per minute in the service of LACERA, the County of Los Angeles and/or Los Angeles Superior Court.
- Those candidates who have taken and passed a LACERA and/or Los Angeles County typing performance test of 40 works per minute administered by a County Department. Passing scores on record with the Department of Human Resources will be transferred automatically. Applicants who have met the typing requirement in another department must attach a copy of their typing certificate to their application at the time of filing or email to humanresources@lacera.com within seven (7) calendar days from the last day of fling.
- Study guides and other test preparation resources are available to help candidates prepare for employment tests. While these practice materials will help in preparing for the test, we advise you to review ALL related materials that you deem necessary.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to one (1) or more manager(s), supervisor(s), or staff of a LACERA division or section performing routine and occasionally complex assignments.Vacancy Information:
There is currently one (1) vacancy in the Member Services Division, however, the resulting eligible list for this examination may be used to fill other vacancies throughout LACERA as they occur.Work Schedule:This full-time position may be required to work a 5/40 schedule (e.g. an eight (8) hour day, Monday through Friday) for at least the first six (6) months of employment.Positions allocable to the Administrative Assistant, LACERA position perform routine administrative support assignments following prescribed, detailed procedures and guidelines, referring to a supervisor for more complex assignments. Incumbents generally work independently and may have the authority to set priorities within guidelines and prescribed procedures at the discretion of the supervisor.

Three (3) years of experience performing specialized responsible clerical work requiring a knowledge of specialized subject matter and the use of initiative and judgement within procedural and policy limits.
Keyboarding Rate Requirement:
Ability to type at the rate of 40 net words per minute.
License:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
Physical Expectations:
2– Light: This job requires light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved. ASSESSMENT PROCESS:

MULTIPLE CHOICE ASSESSMENT:

A qualifying performance typing test of 40 net words per minute will be required of candidates who have not held a typing position at LACERA and/ or in the service of the County of Los Angeles. Only those candidates who pass the typing test will be eligible to continue in the selection process.

TEST PREPARATION

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION:
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade will be placed on the eligible register for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
Candidate(s) who complete the examination process with acceptable results will be considered by the Departments' hiring authority. A selection interview may be conducted to determine the candidate's fit for the position. Upon an employment offer, a comprehensive background investigation will be conducted, which includes verification of experience, and/or education, credit history, and fingerprinting through the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
