      This is an exciting opportunity to partner with AstraZeneca’s R&D Therapy Areas to drive their research and development efforts forward to develop medicines for patients. The Therapy Area Procurement Partner serves as a dedicated, therapy area–aligned business partner to Clinical Operations within R&D Global Procurement, bridging clinical and operational needs with strategic procurement execution. The position requires both clinical trial fluency and deep procurement understanding to support cross-functional alignment and enable proactive procurement planning at a TA and clinical programme level supporting delivery of speed, savings and sustainability without compromising quality. The Therapy Area Procurement Partner works in strong collaboration with the Study Procurement Partner to ensure seamless transition from early TA programme planning to study set up execution and beyond.

      Key Accountabilities

      · Act as the central point of contact for assigned Therapy Areas, engaging in portfolio level discussions to identify outsourcing demand early.

      · Translate Therapy Area strategy, clinical plans, and operational roadmaps into forward-looking procurement insights and early-stage demand forecasts to support Procurement Category Teams with demand planning.

      · Provide strategic guidance to Clinical Operations Programme Teams to assess vendor landscape influencing use of preferred sustainable suppliers aligned with the Category Strategy where appropriate during vendor strategy implementation.

      · Identify sourcing gaps, unmet business needs, and cross-category opportunities to inform category strategy development and refresh cycles supporting delivery of speed, savings and sustainability whilst not compromising quality.

      · Escalate to Procurement Category Managers and R&D Alliance Management where sourcing strategies and suppliers do not meet clinical and operational needs.

      · Represent R&D Global Procurement in above category cross-functional initiatives or initiatives that span multiple Procurement categories.

      · Coordinate with R&D enabling functions such as Alliance Management, Global Clinical Solutions to align support models, ensure cohesive engagement, and close known gaps in areas where no dedicated business partner exists.

      · Shape, validate, and refine procurement engagement models, processes, and messaging through close business partnership.

      · Work in strong collaboration with the TA Study Procurement Partner to ensure seamless transition and handover from TA early engagement programme planning into the study start up and maintenance phase.

      · Supports with ad hoc projects as and when required.

      Required Qualifications & Experience

      · 8+ years in procurement, clinical operations, or related fields with a strong understanding of clinical trial planning and execution.

      · Experience in demand planning, vendor strategy, or vendor management within clinical trials space.

      · Strong understanding of category management, supplier management, and cross-functional collaboration frameworks.

      · Proven experience working in matrix organizations, preferably in pharmaceutical or life sciences settings.

      · Demonstrated ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders and translate operational needs into procurement opportunities.

      · Excellent communication, facilitation, and strategic influencing skills.

      · Project Management and Change Management skills

      · Able to synthesize complex information into clear recommendations and deliver with confidence.

      · Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business, life sciences, or related field is a plus.

      · Strong knowledge of ICH GCP and related guidelines pertaining to clinical trials.
