- Develop and nurture relationships with Travel Managers, Travel Agents and Hotel Chain National Sales Representatives
- Grow market share for the luxury consortia's and maximize all sales efforts to increase customer base for these preferred accounts.
- Research demand generators in the local market. Utilize Hotelligence and STR reports to identify and secure opportunity accounts as well as to monitor the conditions of the market.
- Effectively balance all of the core direct sales disciplines: prospecting, solicitation, rate quoting, contracting, outside sales calls, site inspections, client entertainment, outside presentations, marketing to in-house guests, networking,
- Attend industry events and trade shows.
- Track account volume production and discuss status with the top customers on a monthly basis.
- Develop and follow Strategic Plans and Actions that support the goal of growing existing accounts, moving market share from the competition, and identifying and securing new accounts.
- Report market segment status and tactics to the Revenue Optimization Team on a weekly basis.
- Respond promptly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively with operational departments. Facilitate special events for existing and prospective accounts.
- Prepare a month end recap report for the revenue team.

- Strong knowledge and proficiency with transient RFP tools and Business Intelligence programs including, but not limited to, Lanyon, Agency 360.
- Recommend, plan and participate in sales trips and industry related events/tradeshows as appropriate to the assigned markets/territories
- Assist Director of Commercial Strategy in the establishment of annual sales goals, and meet or exceed the annual sales goals, including sales activity production guidelines.
- Analyze marketing opportunities and make recommendations for corporate negotiated and luxury consortia programs
- Adhere to the hotel's sales guideline and book profitable business based on need times, including but not limited to prospecting, telemarketing, outside sales calls, site inspections, and presentations.
- Comply with company sales reporting standards, company sales office and system standards.
- Conduct superior negotiating skills in a professional, business-like manner.
- Develop and execute sales action plans to close on targeted accounts and or business within a market segment.
- Identify and qualify the market for major room night demand generators, developing effective strategies with the Director of Commercial Strategy consistent with the hotel's sales and marketing plan.
- Act as a source for the Director of Commercial Strategy in suggesting strategies and tactics for respective markets in the annual business plan.
- Demonstrate leadership in timely execution of specific assignments.
- Develop professional selling skills through participation in prescribed training programs as directed.Has command of all programs, promotions and services of Thompson Hotels, and those of its primary competitors.
- Update management on market fluctuations and competitive changes in product ownership or strategies. Recommend shifts in sales action plans in response to these fluctuations or changes.
- Maintain positive relations and high visibility in relative business organizations such as Visit Los Cabos, ASTA etc.
- Maintain realistic working relationships with competitive sales representatives to ensure referrals and co-op bidding.
- Perform any reasonable task as assigned by the Director of Commercial Strategy
- Travel required. Valid passport
- Minimum 5+ years previous Senior Leisure Sales Manager / Director of Leisure Sales experience in a luxury resort setting.
- General knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors affecting supply and demand
- Strong management experience and industry relationships across luxury leisure consortia accounts, including but not limited to, American Express The Hotel Collection, Virtuoso Travel, Signature Travel, Internova Select, and Traveller Made.
- Strong knowledge of RFP process, current market trends, and distribution systems.
- College degree.
- Ability to demonstrate expert knowledge and customer contacts in the Luxury / Leisure markets.
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English (speak, read, write) with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to accurately compute and manipulate mathematical calculations.
- Knowledge of travel industry, current market trends and economic factors.
- Basic skill in development and delivery of sales presentations.
- Ability to deal with internal and external customers and staff, collect accurate information and to resolve conflicts.
- Punctuality and regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to work flexible schedules to include AM, PM, Weekends & Holidays.
- Computer knowledge in Windows environment and previous experience with automated property management system, OPERA preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft office- Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with co-workers and the public.
- Knowing a second Language a plus
- Candidates residing on the west coast preferred

The Director of Leisure Sales is a fully competent individual who has experience in the sales process and function of a hotel. We are seeking for a career sales professional and top producer within hotel sales who has demonstrated through performance a commitment and expertise in direct sales. Responsibilities include selling guest rooms and Hyatt to transient market customers through corporate accounts, travel agencies, individual travel and wholesale groups , managing accounts, and conducting site inspections, soliciting and generating business. Duties also include preparing and presenting effective proposals, maintaining well-organized documentation and reports, utilizing Hyatt systems and coordination of customer service requirements as appropriate. In addition to ensuring proper solicitation of all transient markets, including travel to major cities in key feeder markets as well as the property. The Director of Leisure Sales will also participate in sales and revenue meetings. The Director of Leisure Sales manages key accounts and solicits new business via phone, email, and in-person sales calls
