      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Act as the LAO's expert in assigned policy areas, conducting thorough research and analysis
      - Identify and analyze budget and policy issues, developing actionable recommendations for the Legislature
      - Testify before legislative committees on fiscal and policy matters
      - Maintain communication with legislative, administrative, and intergovernmental staff, as well as industry groups
      - Produce reports and legislative assignments based on in-depth analysis and research findings

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Master’s degree in public policy, public or business administration, economics, or a related field
      - Strong quantitative and analytical skills
      - Effective communication skills, both written and oral
      - Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment
      - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience in fiscal and policy analysis within a governmental or nonpartisan setting
      - Strong critical thinking skills and creativity in developing policy recommendations
      - Familiarity with California state budget processes and legislative procedures
