      POSITION SUMMARY

      The Human Resources Business Partner I position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of HR policies and programs for an office location. Accountabilities include but are not limited to employee relations, on-boarding, benefits, training, and employee development. Additionally, this position may be assigned to one or more of the Department’s ongoing initiatives such as compensation, organizational development, etc. This position performs duties associated with some or all the different functional HR areas for one or more Company site and this position is expected to be proficient in one or more HR discipline or program that impacts an essential process or procedure for the assigned Company or Department. In addition to the responsibilities of a HR Business Partner are to research, analyze and present recommendations for enhancements.

      This HRBP I position will serve as the point of contact for employees and managers in a locale(s). The incumbent is to collaborate with supervisors, managers, and employees to provide general HR advice and guidance in accordance with current laws and regulations and existing HR policies and procedures.

      EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

      • BA/ BS (Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or other related disciplines) preferred.
      • Working toward or successful completion of Professional Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP

      EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

      • 2+ years HR related recent experience working for a refinery, manufacturing or transportation related company preferred.
      • Experience working in a shared services and HR team environment preferred.
      • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and practices required.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite required.
      • Knowledge of HRIS software required; ADP preferred.
      • Fluent in English, oral and written required.
      • General knowledge of business acumen and customer service principles required.
      • Demonstrated ability to analyze problems and prioritize tasks.
      • Ability to address and manage confidential issues and materials on a regular basis.
      • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs.
      • Ability to travel as needed.

      MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES

      • Coach, counsel, and guide managers before the execution of employee disciplinary actions, interviews, salary offers, etc.
      • Coach, counsel, and guide employees inquiring about HR related processes and protocols.
      • Maintain regular communication with supervisor of progress, roadblocks, potential discrepancies and as needed, defer to supervisor for guidance of protocols, procedures, and best practices.
      • Initiate new hire orientations and exit procedures.
      • Assist with recruitment tasks as needed (e.g., review applications, interviews)
      • Maintain close contact with the HR team to ensure alignment with corporate and departmental procedures.
      • Distribute, monitor, and ensure that employee performance evaluations, benefit revisions, etc. are completed.
      • Support line management in forecasting and planning talent pipeline requirements.
      • Promote feedback mechanisms for employees to influence the continuous improvement of HR services and processes.
      • Communicate with managers and employees about the Department’s shared services advantages, links, and support systems.
      • Manage specific projects as determined in the HR planning process and participate in functional and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
      • Maintain current federal and applicable state employment laws and regulations.
      • As assigned, serve as back-up for HRBP (s) and HR Manager(s) during absences
      • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
