10/07/2024 - Responsible for all internal and external HR-related matters within University Schools, including compliance with state and federal laws.
- Works collaboratively with School Administration and Business Manager to apply HR practices as they relate to school operations.
- Remains knowledgeable regarding EEO requirements and employment laws pertaining to areas of responsibility to ensure compliance for the school. Attends HR support group meetings through the Colorado League of Charter Schools, annual Charter School Conference, and other trainings to stay current on applicable charter school employee laws.
- Provides consultation and technical assistance regarding personnel programs, policies, and practices. Assists School Administration in carrying out various human resources programs and procedures for employees.
- Responsible for the management and administration of a comprehensive benefit program, including annual open enrollment, communication with vendors, and processing all open enrollment changes and updates.
- Responsible for supporting School Administration with all phases of the HR pipelines including, but not limited to:
- Creating, reviewing, and updating job descriptions;
- Recruiting; maintaining the applicant tracking system, including, but not limited to, posting jobs; pre-screening applications; scheduling and assisting with interviews; notifying candidates; and, extending job offers;
- Onboarding new hires (coordinating background/fingerprint checks, payroll paperwork, benefit enrollment, access to software and student database, explaining company policies and procedures, and coordinating with New Teacher Coach);
- Providing training to Interview Committee members, administration, and on-going training as needed for a complete understanding of HR systems and processes. Ensures the school/staff remains compliant with mandatory training requirements;
- Maintaining personnel files and employee data in payroll system as well as updating all benefit providers, programs, and all applicable local, state and federal reporting;
- Process employee changes and terminations in the payroll/personnel software;
- Responsible for offboarding personnel, including exit interviews.

- Administer FMLA process, including tracking of certifications, eligibility, and time used. This also includes assisting employees with short term and long-term disability claims, the state’s FAMLI leave, maternity leave and leaves of absence.
- Maintains labor law bulletin boards at all building locations.
- Completes annual review of employee handbook and policies, and makes recommendations for updates and changes as appropriate.
- Works closely with District 6 to determine, maintain, and report licensure and highly qualified status for CDE compliance.
- Serves as a point of contact for employee concerns, for example, ADA/accommodations, discrimination, Title IX, conflict resolution, etc.
- Assists Administration with implementing the staff evaluation program including the establishment and tracking of any necessary performance improvement plans.
- Works cooperatively with the Coordinator of Communications and Community Engagement:
- Designing and maintaining school website pages for Human Resources and recruiting purposes;
- Recruiting efforts including online and in-person job fairs, recruiting websites, and any other recruiting methods utilized; and,
- Organizing and creating employee functions, communications, trainings, etc.

- Works with the High School Athletic Director in conjunction with verifying and tracking small bus & large bus driver certifications. This includes maintaining large bus driver personnel files with medical certification, drug testing information, and any and all required CDE forms or certifications.
- Manages the checkout process for the short buses and Suburbans ensuring that all procedures are executed, keys are tracked, and small maintenance needs are tracked.
- Records all field trips and the bus driver assignments in the school calendar.
- Uses initiative and resourcefulness to anticipate needs and achieve results.
- Drafts concise communications to employees in an effective manner.
- Accepts responsibility on projects and deadlines.

- High School Diploma/GED
- Three (3) years of previous HR experience is required.
- PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
- Background check required for hire.
- Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
- Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
- Speech: to be understood in face-to-face communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone.
- Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
- Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects that weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch.
- Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.

- May be exposed to poor weather conditions including heat, cold, wet and snow and other outdoor weather conditions.
- The work environment combines standard office setting including some standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.)

Decision making is guided by applicable laws, School, Board of Governors and District policies and procedures, accepted professional standards, and/or good personal judgment. Decision making requires collaboration with administrators and staff. Errors in decision making could lead to loss of confidence in or image of the school.

POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Specialist
Position Type: Full Time - 1.0 FTE
Pay Range: Salary placement is on the Classified Salary Schedule. Hourly range of pay is $33.47 to $56.90, depending on experience. This position is currently 225 days annually, July 1 to June 30.
