- Litigation Management: Manage first-party property lawsuits and litigated files from referral through resolution-selecting and directing defense counsel, establishing litigation plans and budgets, monitoring case strategy, and providing settlement authority.
- First-Party Dispute Handling: Manage primarily homeowner first-party property disputes in strict accordance with state-specific insurance regulations and K2 Claims' Best Practices.
- Appraisal Process: Respond to and manage appraisal demands, including appointing appraisers, participating in umpire selection, and resolving valuation and scope-of-damage disputes through the appraisal process.
- Dispute Resolution: Drive complex claims toward resolution through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and appraisal, minimizing exposure and expense.
- Coverage Analysis: Analyze policy coverage and draft detailed reservation of rights and/or coverage declination letters.
- Investigation: Verify facts of loss by obtaining statements, analyzing documents, and evaluating damages.
- Complex & Large Loss Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports for senior management and clients regarding claim status, recommended reserves, and strategic plans of action.
- Negotiation: Effectively negotiate settlements within assigned authority.
- Risk Transfer & Liability Evaluation: Where applicable, analyze liability exposure, evaluate risk transfer options, and determine insurance priority.
- Referrals: Identify and refer appropriate claims to subrogation or the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).
- Experience: 5+ years handling first-party property claims, with demonstrated experience managing litigated files and disputed claims. Homeowner first-party property litigation experience is strongly preferred.
- Appraisal & ADR: Working knowledge of the appraisal process and appraisal demands, and familiarity with mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Complex Claims: Proven ability to manage complex, high-exposure claims and coordinate effectively with defense counsel.
- Liability & Risk Transfer (Preferred): Knowledge of liability claims and risk transfer principles is a strong plus.
- Industry Background: Previous experience in a TPA or insurance carrier environment handling diverse programs.
- Licensing: Ability to obtain and maintain all required state adjuster licenses. A California adjuster's license is preferred.
- Education: Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a dedicated focus on customer service.
- Travel: Must be flexible for occasional business travel for training, mediations, and/or trials.

Pay Range: $95,000-$115,000 USD annually
About the Role
K2 Claims Services, LLC ("K2 Claims") is seeking an experienced Litigation Specialist to manage a caseload of disputed and litigated claims, with a primary focus on first-party homeowner property disputes and lawsuits. As a third-party administrator (TPA), K2 Claims services specialty programs across property, general liability, auto, professional liability, and workers' compensation. This role is central to resolving the most contested matters in our book-driving litigated files, appraisal demands, and complex disputes to efficient resolution.
