      Listed within this posting is the anticipated salary range for this position, plus variable incentive compensation.       THE OPPORTUNITY:

      Harford Mutual is seeking a Loss Control Specialist to service our large account book of business. This role involves conducting pre-inspections for large accounts, surveying, preparing stewardship reports, developing service plans, and collaborating with the claims department to set up claims review calls with insureds. The Loss Control Specialist will also be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with insureds, agents and underwriters in the large account sector. This position should have an extensive knowledge of the Habitational / property management Industry. This position should also have knowledge of other industries such as contractors, manufacturing, Transportation. This position will cover our Northern Territory, which includes MD, PA, NJ, DE, DC and VA with occasional travel to other territories as needed.

      Remote (MD, PA, or D.C. area)

      WHAT YOU’LL DO:

      • Service our large account book of business by conducting comprehensive Loss Control surveys and services.
      • Perform pre-inspections for large accounts to identify hazards and exposures and provide recommendations to mitigate loss potential.
      • Prepare detailed stewardship reports and develop tailored service plans for our clients.
      • Collaborate with the claims department to set up and participate in claims review calls with insureds.
      • Build and maintain strong relationships with insureds and agents in the large account sector.
      • Provide written survey reports, along with supporting data and information, for Underwriting review and assistance with risk selection and account retention efforts.
      • Develop and implement risk improvement services for our customers, including safety program consultation and training on identified hazards and exposures.
      • Participate in department projects throughout the year to broaden and grow your professional network and technical skillset.
      • Create technical bulletins and other resources that will be available for external usage
      • Develop and train technical material related to specific industries and lines of business

      WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

      • Bachelor’s Degree
      • 7+ years of experience in Loss Control or habitational / property management specific
      • Demonstrated understanding of building construction, electrical and plumbing standards, HVAC systems, sprinkler systems, and fire department operations; able to recognize hazards related to employee on the job injuries
      • Be able to observe, develop, and communicate risk recommendations so that underwriters can make effective decisions on risk
      • Extensive experience working with Habitational / Property Management industries, putting together service plans and fulfilling the needs of those services, and Identifying and Evaluating Sprinkler Systems
