      Tasks & Responsibilities

      Valuation and Business Case
      • Perform valuation and other financial analyses to support potential collaborations, acquisitions, divestments, as well as in and out-licensing transactions (DCF, multiple analyses, LBO, etc.)
      • Business case modelling including pharma specific factors such as risk / probability weighting; ability to create multiple business case scenarios
      • Engage with and challenge business unit / commercial teams in business case development

      M&A and Corporate Development Process
      • Manage internal project team(s) composed of subject area experts through the initial assessment and due diligence phases, as well as coordinate inputs into board decision documents
      • Drive the organization towards a goal or decision in a coordinated, transparent way, promoting strong collaboration; prioritization and identification of critical issues
      • Interact with internal legal counsel team as part of the negotiations / legal contract drafting (i.e. coordination between legal and internal area experts)
      • Capable of managing smaller transaction processes end to end with minimal supervision
      • Interact with and manage transaction services providers in Corporate Development and M&A processes
      • Assist in development of negotiation tactics; actively participate in negotiation of transactions

      Presentation and Decision Support
      • Creation of Management Board, BoD and other internal decision documents

      Opportunity Assessment and Origination
      • Assist in assessment of M&A and Corporate Development opportunities including strategic fit, rationale and potential critical issues
      • Opportunity screening and origination work (primary analyses of assets/targets, external sourcing)
      • General market research (transactions, competitors and/or players) in key Therapeutic Areas or Territories

      Strategic Planning
      • Performance of selected strategic analyses and support of internal strategic planning process.

      Education

      • University degree, likely in business studies, economics or engineer
      • MBA or advanced degree a plus
      • Strong business proficiency in English. Knowledge of other languages a plus

      Specific Knowledge

      • Corporate Finance, Accounting, Valuation (DCF, multiple-based valuation, LBO, etc.) and M&A process
      • Excellent command of Excel for business cases, modelling, valuation and simulations
      • Excellent Powerpoint and Word skills for development of presentations, transaction documents (e.g. CIM, NBOs, etc.)
      • Comfortable with complex quantitative data
      • High maturity level and strong interpersonal skills for internal team management and counterparty interactions; interactions will frequently be with senior level management
      • Some understanding of Corporate Development collaborations and M&A contracts

      Experience

      • 4-6 years’ experience in Strategy Consulting, Investment Banking or Transaction Services (Deloitte, PWC, E&Y, KPMG)
      • Specific experience in the science sector and/or international experience also a plus
      • Strong desire to (i) boost decision-maker mindset and (ii) step into a role where team leadership is crucial for success
