- Help ensure the company’s adherence to all relevant laws, local city/state regulations and industry standards, specifically regulations in California, Colorado and Washington.
- Stay up-to-date and thoroughly understand changes in federal, state, and local housing laws and regulations, particularly concerning affordable housing programs like LIHTC, Section 8, and other tenant subsidy or project-based programs.
- Partner with the legal team to ensure alignment with regulatory and contractual obligations.
- Interpret and communicate regulatory updates to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Develop and implement procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory agreements and affordable housing program guidelines.
- Conduct internal resident file and quality control audits, identifying and addressing deficiencies.
- Oversee and manage the preparation and submission of reports required by various agencies (e.g., state housing authorities, HUD).
- Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors and agencies during compliance reviews.
- Developing and maintaining a compliance calendar to track deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Assist in developing and delivering training programs on compliance topics for property management staff.
- Providing guidance and support to staff on compliance-related issues.
- Ensure all properties have a thorough understanding of applicable housing programs and policies.
- Ensure accurate and timely data entry into compliance reporting systems (e.g., TRACS, EIV, Boston Post/MRI).
- Monitor waitlist management and ensure timely processing of applications, eligibility determinations, and move-ins in accordance with program requirements.
- Be a resource of support for the annual recertification process, ensuring adherence to program guidelines and deadlines.
- Maintain current rent and income limit schedules for all assisted programs.
- Collaborate with regional property management leadership to address compliance-related issues and develop solutions.
- Proactively identify potential areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions.
- Respond to appeals and reasonable accommodation requests in a timely manner.
- Maintain thorough and organized records of compliance checks, audits and regulatory reviews.
- Work to achieve and maintain high performance standards in regulatory audits and inspections.
- 5–7+ years of experience in industry regulatory support and compliance roles within multifamily housing, affordable housing, or property management.
- Direct working knowledge of LIHTC, HUD Section 8, and other affordable housing programs.
- Experience navigating regulatory requirements in California and Colorado; familiarity with New York and Massachusetts regulations is a plus.
- Proven track record managing regulatory audits, inspections, and agency communications.
- Proficiency in compliance-related software platforms (e.g., TRACS, EIV, Boston Post, OneSite, Yardi).
- Strong understanding of Fair Housing laws, ADA requirements and other regulatory housing-related statutes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate ability to exercise sound judgment, balance multiple priorities and consistently meet deadlines in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct compliance gaps.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with staff, regulatory agencies and stakeholders.

This position works with the property management team to provide superior customer service to employees, owners, lenders, auditors and governmental agencies. The position will report to the Director, Operations & Performance.
This position will assist in implementing and maintaining compliance policies within the organization and manage the required governmental audits and inspections on property sites. The position may require travel to sites as needed.
