What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Validate denial reasons and ensure coding accuracy in the DCM system
- Generate appeals based on dispute reasons and specific contract terms
- Follow payer guidelines for appeals submission and escalate exhausted appeal efforts
- Research contract terms and compile necessary documentation for appeals
- Escalate denial or payment variance trends to leadership for resolution
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a hospital business environment performing billing and/or collections
- Intermediate understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and Managed Care Contracts
- Intermediate knowledge of hospital billing form requirements (UB-04)
- Advanced business letter writing skills, including correct grammar and punctuation
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Experience with ICD-9, HCPCS/CPT coding, and medical terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
