What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Validate denial reasons and ensure accurate coding in the DCM system
- Generate appeals based on dispute reasons and payer contract terms
- Follow specific payer guidelines for appeals submission and escalate exhausted appeal efforts
- Research contract terms and compile necessary documentation for appeals
- Escalate denial or payment variance trends to the leadership team for further action
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a hospital business environment performing billing and/or collections
- Intermediate understanding of Explanation of Benefits (EOB) forms and Managed Care Contracts
- Intermediate knowledge of hospital billing form requirements (UB-04)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) with advanced business writing skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Additional experience in healthcare-related billing or collections roles
- Familiarity with ICD-9, HCPCS/CPT coding, and medical terminology
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced call center environment
