      Safety & Operations Business Partner (East)

      How would you like to join our central Safety & Operations Assurance Team here at Stagecoach?

      It’s a really exciting time for the team and we are looking for a Safety & Operations Business Partner to provide safety, environmental and operational support to our Bus Operating Companies covering Midlands, East Midlands, Yorkshire, East of England and South East. Our team has a great mix of experience from with Stagecoach and other industries, and we’re looking for the right person to complete our team.

      Our team do a brilliant job of providing safety, environmental and operational assurance, specialist advice and support to all of the Stagecoach Bus Operating Companies. Speaking of Stagecoach, we are the largest provider of bus services in the UK with 24,000 employees and over 100 million passenger journeys a year. Safety is at the core of everything we do across all of our operations at Stagecoach. It is our number one priority and so this is a really important role in our business!

      You’ll be one of 4 Business Partners based across four regions of the UK, with this role providing support to our businesses. Between them, these Operating Companies undertake an incredible 125 million passenger journeys a year!

      To put a little more meat on the bones in terms of what you’ll be doing…

      • Building proactive relationships with your Operating Companies (it’s a really hands on role!)
      • Support the senior management teams of your Operating Companies in running their Safety Forums, making sure that safety culture and safety leadership is promoted.
      • Assisting your Operating Companies with identifying, managing and reducing their safety, environmental and operational risks through the establishment of a risk management approach.
      • Providing an independent challenge to the safety performance of each Operating Company.
      • Undertaking major accident and incident investigations, identifying root cause and making recommendations for future prevention.
      • Providing assurance to the senior management of each Operating Company and the senior leadership team on safety, environmental and operational performance by undertaking audit and other assurance monitoring activities.
      • Supporting the wider team and your Operating Companies in continuing to identify and undertake projects that support our Safety Always strategy.

      This role comes with loads of responsibility but we’ll provide you with all the support you need!

      Here comes the “what we’ll need from you” bit…

      • You’ll be up for the challenge of looking at the way we run our business in a different way.
      • You’ll be an experienced safety practitioner, used to operating across multiple locations and passionate about making a difference.
      • You’ll be at least a Technical Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health, working towards Chartered Member status and have experience of management system auditing.
      • You’ll be a brilliant communicator (as you’ll have the opportunity to work with our employees at all levels of the organisation!)
      • You’ll understand the importance of being visible to the Operating Companies.

      The important bits are:

      • Location is flexible but you must be able to spend the majority of your time in the area and be prepared to travel.
      • We will provide you with the mentoring and coaching that you will need to undertake your role.
      • We will provide you with a company / lease car to make sure you can easily get to our locations.
