      About the position:

      The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) is seeking a Senior Associate Director of Accountability & Research in the Research, Analytics and Data, reporting to the Director Research, Analytics, and Data.

      As a member of the IBHE leadership team, the Senior Associate Director of Accountability & Research will lead the agency’s data collection, Institutional research, and analytic functions, including overseeing the student-level data system, and relevant reporting, and analysis; develops and leads execution of a higher education data accountability system to support the goals of A Thriving Illinois.

      Major Duties and Responsibilities

      • Leads the development and execution of a research and reporting agenda and accountability system in support of defined Agency goals and strategies (“A Thriving Illinois”), ensuring the agency is informed by strong data analysis and research through close collaboration with other Agency departments
      • Works to develop and oversee a higher education accountability system that reinforces and measures equity-related progress related to the higher education strategic plan, and information in support of the annual budget process
      • Leads and develops a staff team, overseeing their work, professional development, and success

      Major Duties and Responsibilities continued

      • Maintains the data quality and integrity of the student-level data collections in IHEIS and the data warehouse
      • Develops and maintains necessary data, interactive tools, analysis, and reports for internal use and public release
      • Develops and oversees a variety of analysis in support of the state’s portfolio of academic programs and their alignment with the state’s economic development goals and plans
      • Develops materials and trainings to help increase data literacy of IBHE staff and the higher education community
      • Partners with and supports other Agency leaders and staff, including helping achieve the long-term strategic and annual goals, including Diversity Equity, and Inclusion goals
      • Other duties as assigned, within scope of position

      Minimum Education and Experience:

      Required:

      • Master’s degree from an accredited Institution, in a relevant field
      • Formal education and/or experience in the field of data analysis, institutional research
      • 5+ years’ experience with institutional research or planning and budgeting

      Preferred:

      • 2+ years’ of management/supervisory experience

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Passion and commitment to education and public service
      • Highly analytical, with the ability to define, conduct and communicate research and analysis from multiple sources to multiple audiences
      • Ability to lead the research analysis and development process
      • Ability to conceptualize data collection systems, collect data, and conduct analysis to respond to legislation and agency needs
      • Strong interpersonal and supervisory skills with a teamwork orientation
      • Strong problem-solving skills
      • Strong organizational skills
      • Extremely driven, intellectually curious, and committed to continuous learning and knowledge growth
      • Previous experience managing a team; setting the example as a collaborative colleague, reinforcing a strong team-focused culture

      Work Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm Mon-Fri

      **IBHE is based in Springfield, IL, however, a hybrid work schedule may be available.
