      Job Title: Senior Data Analyst Department: Technology Reports To: Director of Emerging Technologies Location: Remote (Los Angeles-Orange County preferred; California as a whole or WA ok) FLSA Status: Exempt
      Position Summary

      Serve as a strategic partner across the business, leading analytical initiatives that drive operational excellence, improve member outcomes, and support data-informed decision making.

      Key Responsibilities

      Data Analysis & Insights
      • Lead complex analyses to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities across clinical, claims, financial, and operational datasets. • Translate ambiguous business questions into structured analytical approaches. • Deliver clear, concise, and actionable insights to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

      Business Intelligence & Visualization
      • Design and manage data visualizations using QuickSight and Power BI, Looker, or similar tools. • Develop dashboards, metrics, and recurring reports that support strategic and operational needs. • Partner with stakeholders to refine reporting requirements and ensure alignment with key performance indicators (KPIs). • Ensure data visualizations are intuitive, accurate, and tailored to the intended audience.

      Data Management & Quality
      • Partner with IT teams to improve data pipelines, definitions, integrity, and accessibility. • Validate and audit datasets regularly to ensure accuracy and consistency. • Recommend process or system enhancements to strengthen data quality and governance. • Maintain documentation for data definitions and reporting logic.

      Stakeholder Collaboration
      • Work closely with Operations, Product, Finance, and Clinical leaders to understand data needs and provide analytical support. • Support initiatives in population health, quality improvement, and value-based care. • Serve as a subject matter expert on data definitions, KPIs, and analytical methodologies. • Train end users on Reports that have been generated. Mentor users a minimum of 8 hours a month. • Lead or support special projects that require advanced analytical modeling or deep data exploration.

      Advanced Analytics & Tools
      • Apply statistical methods, forecasting models, or other advanced techniques when applicable. • Utilize SQL, Python, R, or other tools to extract and manipulate large datasets. • Explore opportunities to introduce automation and more sophisticated analytic approaches.

      Compliance & Security
      • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational data governance policies. • Follow secure data access standards and remote work security practices. • Safeguard all confidential and sensitive health information.

      Qualifications

      Required
      • 5+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field. • Advanced proficiency with SQL and at least one analytic programming language (e.g., Python or R). • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, Power Query, advanced formulas). • Strong experience building dashboards (e.g., QuickSight, Power BI, Looker). • Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to turn complex data into meaningful insights. • Strong communication skills, including the ability to tailor insights to technical and non-technical audiences. • Experience working with large or complex datasets, preferably in a healthcare or regulated environment.

      Preferred
      • Experience in healthcare analytics, care management, value-based care, or population health. • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and modern analytics infrastructures. • Knowledge of statistical modeling, forecasting, or applied data science. • Prior experience in a high-growth or tech-enabled organization. • Familiarity with HL7/FHIR standards.

      Work Environment / Physical Requirements
      • Ability to work remotely, with reliable internet access. • Frequent use of computers, phones, video conferencing tools and related office equipment. • May require extended periods of sitting or standing during meetings, training or documentation tasks. • Adequate hearing and clear speech for in-person or telephone communication. • Vision suitable for reading various documents, including memos, screens, and forms. • Able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn, etc. • Occasional travel may be required depending on organizational needs. • May require evening and weekend hours to support business needs.
