- Identify and vet potential targets aligned to Company strategy.
- Lead due diligence activities.
- Facilitate dialogue and organizational alignment around whether to pursue deals based on diligence, risk, growth potential, financial modeling, and strategic intent.
- Articulate, at the executive level, a deal summary of benefits and risks in a holistic and strategic manner that encompasses both the qualitative and financial picture as well as organizational and non-financial nuances.
- Impact company revenue and profitability by executing to inorganic growth targets and influencing decisions that lead to long-term profitability for the acquired company and corresponding business/region.
- Directly manage a small team of BD managers and senior analysts, as well as matrixed leadership across the enterprise through due diligence and deal execution.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a Business, Finance, or related field of study is required. An MBA or other graduate degree is strongly preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant M&A experience is required. Healthcare industry experience is strongly preferred.
- A track record of increasing responsibility in strategy consulting, investment banking, and/or corporate business development.
- Strong, demonstrable business and financial acumen and analytical skills are essential.
- Communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to facilitate decision-making in a complex, matrix environment where change is a constant is critical.
- Experience identifying, targeting and analyzing potential small and large business opportunities.
- Strong strategic analysis, with ability to build and communicate strategic plans.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage large business engagements.
- Demonstrated ability with driving new business tied to individual efforts.
- Proven ability to effectively interact and collaborate with other executive level business development colleagues and counterparts.
- The ability to travel up to 25% of the time is required.
Overview
The Senior Director, Business Development – M&A will be responsible for driving the development and growth of profitable new business opportunities for Quest Diagnostics at the enterprise level. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the area of mergers and acquisitions, business partnerships, and joint ventures. The goal is to support enterprise and business level strategies by identifying, vetting, and providing diligence of potential partners and targets to achieve inorganic growth and profitability targets.
The Senior Director will also help organize the pre/post-acquisition activities required to ensure successful integrations, and to deliver the business case. The incumbent will be responsible for defining the process, assembling the core tools and models, and administering a governance process to ensure decision making and organizational alignment while executing to objectives. This role will partner closely with finance, legal, operations, integration. HR, as well as regional and franchise business leaders. While the position reports to the VP of Mergers and Acquisitions, the Senior Director will interact with the SVP - Strategy and M&A as well as the Executive Leadership Team.
