      Description

      Rockhurst University is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Director of Student Success. This is a full-time, 12-month position in the Academic Affairs Department of the University.

      PRIMARY DUTIES:

      • Provide strategic direction and oversight for retention and student success at the University (primarily for undergraduates, but also attentive to graduate students).
      • Provide supervision and direction for the Career Development, the Learning Center, Disability Resources, Student Success Coaches, Financial Success Coach, Undergraduate Advising, and Office Manager.
      • Lead and direct undergraduate advising efforts to provide a cohesive and consistent process for students.
      • Engage and communicate individually with students and parents in problem-solving situations that may be obstacles to student success.
      • Oversee retention technologies (texting, degree planning, etc.), reviewing usage, providing oversight, and recommendations when necessary.
      • Maximizes efficiency and effectiveness through appropriate data collection and analysis. Works collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness to lead the development of cocurricular initiatives, their assessment, and evaluation to advance institutional goals.
      • In collaboration with Student Life and Admissions, oversees co-curricular aspects of the new student experience for all incoming students including Summer Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR), in-person orientation events, first-year programming, etc. to include oversight of T he Manresa: First Year Experience course.
      • Provides regular updates to campus leadership when needed to identify key trends and areas of concern, including recommendations for institutional policy and procedural changes.
      • Participate in the Provost’s Senior Leadership Team by providing oversight and guidance for the departmental budget development, strategic planning, and everyday problem-solving.
      • Actively collaborate with other University leaders and personnel - and represent the area on various University Committees and task forces as well as at university-wide events such as orientation, recruitment, and other co-curricular, extra-curricular, and curricular programs.

      REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

      • An earned master’s degree in counseling, higher education, student affairs, or an affiliated program.
      • Minimum five years of progressive experience in student affairs administration affiliated with at least several of the programs noted above as a part of this role.
      • Supervisory experience of full-time employees.
      • Proficiency in and commitment to multicultural competence and experience working with individuals from culturally diverse populations, including underrepresented and/or underserved populations; ability to work effectively with traditional and non-traditional college students.
      • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally as well a demonstrated background of collaboratively working with and leading others towards defined objectives.
      • Experience in developing and working with strategic plans, budgets, and assessment.
      • Experience reviewing data for trends and using data for improvement.

      STRONGLY PREFERRED:

      • More than five years of full-time or equivalent experience in university administration.
      • Awareness of and sensitivity to the concerns and needs of college students from diverse origins and orientations.
      • Experience working with students affected by disabilities, sexual assault, discrimination & harassment, and psychiatric/medical emergencies and issues.
