- Serves as a Senior Public Service Administrator for the Division of the Academy and Training for the Illinois State Police (ISP)to perform a wide variety of duties associated with cadet in-service, code & recruit training programs.
- Assist with academy curriculum to ensure performance standards and curriculum related to the delivery of training; monitors policies and procedures to ensure the material meet standards based on legislation, department policy and accreditation.
- Assists with developing short and long-range plans for the overall goals and objectives for the division which are consistent with the Department's strategic plans and metrics.
- Serves as the liaison between the DAT and the ISP Legal office
- Delivers training to cadets, in-service, code personnel and local law enforcement recruits and academy specific training.
- As directed by the Deputy Director and/or Assistant Deputy Director, attends professional conferences and seminars in order to remain current with new modern training curriculum methods and techniques.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably holding a bachelor’s degree in Education preferably with courses in law enforcement, criminology, penology or a related field.
- Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible managerial and administrative experience in a law enforcement, public or private organization, a correctional facility or related field necessary to evaluate training programs and curriculum.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of management or supervisory experience over professional or training staff, including experience in preparing and presenting to a diverse group.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of extensive knowledge related to the planning, development, production, implementation, review, and evaluation of curriculum.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of knowledge of all educational programs in assigned facility.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience and knowledge of public and business administration, principles and practices.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience with agency programs and service objectives, activities, and operational systems.
- Prefers at least one (1) year of experience and extensive knowledge of labor and employment development.
- Prefers at least five (5) years experience of knowledge of agency policies and procedures.
- Prefers graduation from a recognized law school.
- Prefers possession of a valid license to practice law in Illinois and two years professional experience in the practice of law.
- Requires a valid appropriate driver's license and ability to travel statewide.
- Requires ability to pass the ISP background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
