Position Description: The Specialist, Storytelling & Communications supports Commonpoint's storytelling and communications efforts by assisting with the execution, production, and quality assurance of written, visual, and digital materials. This part-time role works closely with the Coordinator, Storytelling & Communications to help bring impact stories, program updates, and communication assets to life across reports, social media, and internal and external platforms.
Storytelling & Impact Support
• Assist with the production of impact reports, one-pagers, presentations, and briefs by formatting content, building visuals, and ensuring consistency and clarity
• Support report production workflows, including proofreading, layout support, version control, and quality assurance before final review
• Help translate draft narratives, data points, and insights into accessible visuals and layouts using templates and brand guidelines
• Support the collection and organization of stories, quotes, photos, and examples of program impact shared by staff and teams
• Assist with preparing materials for agency reporting cycles (mid-year, end-of-year) under the guidance of the Coordinator
Communication & Digital Support
• Support the creation and scheduling of social media posts, graphics, and captions across agency platforms, following established content plans and brand standards
• Assist with communications projects such as newsletters, campaign materials, and internal announcements
• Support updates to team and agency websites, including program pages and professional development site updates
• Help prepare visual assets, drafts, and supporting materials for communications initiatives, without final approval responsibility
• Maintain organized folders, templates, and assets to support efficient communication workflows
Production, Tools, & Quality Assurance
• Build visuals and layouts using tools such as Canva Enterprise and Google Slides, following established templates
• Support consistency in tone, formatting, and branding across materials
• Conduct quality checks to ensure materials are accurate, polished, and ready for review
• Assist with backend logistics related to content production and documentation
Collaboration & Professional Growth
• Work closely with the Storytelling & Communications Coordinator on task execution and timelines
• Support the broader Storytelling & Communications team at Commonpoint through coordinated execution and follow-through
• Participate in team meetings and check-ins as scheduled
• Engage in learning opportunities to build skills in storytelling, visual communication, and nonprofit communications
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree (or current enrollment) in communications, design, education, public policy, marketing, or a related field
• Entry-level experience or strong interest in storytelling, communications, or design, nonprofit experience a plus
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established guidelines and feedback
• Familiarity with Canva, Google Slides, and Google Docs (experience with visual storytelling a plus)
• Clear written communication skills and comfort supporting content drafts
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable working in a support and execution-focused role
• Ability to manage tasks independently while working collaboratively within a team structure
Job Details
• Schedule: Part-Time
• Reports to: Coordinator, Storytelling & Communications
• Salary: $23-25/hour depending on experience
• Modality: Remote
