Apply your expertise in a role where you can make a positive difference for youth and young adults in British Columbia
In 2022, the Ministry announced the creation of a new Youth Transitions Program to support youth and young adults in and from care aged 14 to 27 with new and enhanced services and benefits. The program was newly named on May 30, 2023, as Strengthening Abilities and Journeys of Empowerment (SAJE). The name was chosen by the Ministry’s Youth Advisory Council and reflects a positive approach that celebrates the journey from youth to adulthood. The program includes the introduction of funding to better support youth and young adults as they transition from care, expanded program eligibility and duration, and the creation of post-19 SAJE Guides to connect young adults from care to supports and services and assist them in achieving their goals through to their 25th birthday.
Navigators in some locations also support the Services to Adults with Developmental Disabilities (STADD) program, a regionally based initiative with a mandate to provide transition planning support to youth and young adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and/or fetal alcohol spectrum, through an integrated service delivery model. The Navigator coordinates the planning process with a broad range of cross-government partners to implement a collaborative approach to planning designed to create better outcomes for youth and young adults.
If you are interested in bringing your planning skills, ability to build trusting relationships, and leadership talents to make a difference in the lives of youths and young adults, this may be the career opportunity for you!
