      This is a Columbus, OH based hybrid (3 days in office) leadership position. FINRA Series 6 or 7, 24 or 26, and 63 required for this position.

      The Senior Director, Business Development Leader is an integral part of the support the Investment Management Group provides to the Nationwide Financial business segments. To be successful in this role, you will need to bring passion and focus in growing the adoption of Nationwide investment solutions inside key business segments including the Retirement Plans business. In the retail distribution channel and in the broker-dealer channel. Key expectations of this role include, but are not limited to:

      • Partner with internal distribution partners to gain confidence in Nationwide investment solutions with a focus of gaining additional adoption of these investments.

      • Identify product development opportunities to better support the needs of the distribution teams this role supports.

      • Create new dynamic trainings with internal business partners to support growth of our investment solutions.

      • Assume ownership of the overall relationship between our team and the business partners we support.

      Job Description Summary

      In this role, you’ll be responsible for the oversight and leadership of IMG relationships with key internal partners. You’ll be the primary contact between IMG and these business units and will be responsible to design and execute on strategies to help achieve performance objectives. You’ll be responsible for leveraging strategic asset manager relationships for Nationwide Financial Leadership Team (NFLT) and NF distribution leaders. Your interaction with distribution leadership teams will drive future product development opportunities within the IMG team.

      Job Description

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Leads a team responsible for the monitoring of product menus that support NF business lines. Proactively finds and recommends investment changes to product menus that improve investment quality, fills gaps in asset class coverage and improves profitability.

      • Partners with business and distribution leadership to identify product development opportunities. Provides investment product expertise to enable the distribution teams to better position the available investment options with advisors and intermediary partners.

      • Provides investment support to assigned distribution teams across all product platforms. Proactively recommends innovative concepts to improve support provided to meet sales goals.

      • Is a student of the industry and brings competitive intelligence to business partners to find ways to better support products against competitor products.

      • Builds and strengthen organizational talent, promote innovation within the team and effectively drive execution of team priorities.

      • Leads a team that support wholesaling efforts of IMG products. Is responsible for increasing the adoption of IMG products within the product offerings of supported business lines.

      • Partners with 3rd party asset managers to train distribution teams and increase top-line sales.

      • Leads and develops team of investment professionals knowledgeable in the investment vehicles offered within products, such as mutual funds, collective investment trusts, exchange traded funds, stable value investments, variable insurance trusts, separate accounts and/or non-registered investments. Sets strategic direction of team based on the business line priorities.

      • Partners with marketing department of IMG to develop to position IMG products for greater levels of success.

      May perform other duties as assigned.

      Reporting Relationships: Reports to Vice President, Business and Product Development - IMG.

      Typical Skills and Experiences: Education: Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field. MBA or CFA preferred.

      License/Certification/Designation: FINRA Series 6 or 7, 24 and 63 required.

      Experience: More than 10 years requisite experience leading investment teams, preferably in mutual funds or similar products. Experience in the distribution of investment products to institutional and individual investors.

      Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of all significant investment management products and services, including a detailed knowledge of all business and market trends that will impact these products. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead a high-functioning team. Proactive, innovative and creative skill set to meet client and enterprise needs. Ability to motivate others and build cooperative team. Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills. Proven ability to effectively collaborate with others, initiate action and adapt to change.

      Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

      Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and Human Resources Business Partner.
