- Draft content for websites, newsletters, blogs, social media, reports, and promotional publications.
- Assist in the management of social media channels (LinkedIn BlueSky, Instagram and TikTok), including writing and posting original content.
- Assist in maintaining and updating website content, including publications, news, researcher profiles, and events.
- Assist in the production of engaging digital content, including:
- Short-form videos
- Graphics
- Infographics
- Presentations
- Explainers
- Social media assets
- Event collateral
- Develop and maintain editorial calendars aligned with organizational priorities.
- Design marketing and promotional materials to promote IDDP, its work, and events.
- Help promote IDDP events and serve as and IDDP ambassador the day of the event.
- Analyze platform performance and recommend strategies for audience growth and increased visibility.
- Maintain organized content libraries, communications assets, templates, and digital files.
- Collaborate with IDDP faculty and researchers to identify communications opportunities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Position Specific Summary
Housed within the School of Media & Public Affairs (SMPA), the Institute is looking for a Student Communications Assistant to join the team. The student will report to IDDP's Assistant Program Director and work closely with IDDP's Executive Director and Policy Fellow.
Responsibilities
- This position is guaranteed until December 31, 2026. Extension is contingent on Institute funding.
- Applicants are required to submit a cover letter and resume. Applicants that are moved to the interview phase will be asked to provide a sample of their work.
Standard Position Description
The student will manage and/or design marketing and communication strategies and content for departments and/or special events. Tasks may include: Planning, creating, managing and executing marketing plans and campaigns, website resources, digital content and design, and/or managing of social media accounts. While completing work with a high degree of discretion, the student will work within organization marketing standards and guidelines. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications
Previous skills, training, or experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Bluesky, Instagram and TikTok. Video editing or graphic design knowledge. Excellent written and oral communication and proofreading skills. Strong attention to detail, organization, problem-solving & ability to meet tight deadlines.
