- Identifies and implements opportunities for waste reduction, diversion, reuse, and recycling tailored to manufacturing environments.
- Evaluates and optimizes waste collection, sorting, and storage processes to improve efficiency and reduce landfill contributions.
- Collaborates with operations and clients to achieve and exceed waste diversion and sustainability goals.
- Identifies and negotiates rebate and revenue-generating opportunities for recyclable materials such as metals, plastics, cardboard, etc.
- Builds relationships with certified recycling vendors to enhance material recovery and financial returns for clients.
- Monitors commodity markets to advise clients on timing and pricing strategies for recyclables
- Ensures all waste activities comply with federal, provincial, and local environmental regulations.
- Maintains accurate documentation and reporting to support environmental audits and compliance reviews.
- Conducts regular site visits and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to client standards.
- Develops, leads, and continuously improves regional waste management strategies for multiple client sites.
- Provides operational guidance and training to on-site teams to ensure proper waste handling and adherence to site-specific plans.
- Acts as a key liaison between clients, site teams, and vendors.
- In collaboration with the site management, trains and coaches site-based staff on waste segregation practices and sustainability initiatives.
- Supports employee engagement and awareness programs on responsible waste management practices.
- Serves as an advocate for sustainability and environmental stewardship within the company and for our clients.
- Develops and maintains accurate tracking of waste generation, disposal methods, and recycling/reuse rates.
- Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual waste performance reports, providing insights and recommendations to clients.
- Adheres to Zero Harm mindset philosophy
- Attends all required training
- Supports and advises unit employees regarding health and safety related to Waste Management
- Post Secondary education – ideally in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
- Equivalent education and work experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial/commercial waste management, with a focus on manufacturing or large-scale operations
- Experience working with third-party waste and recycling vendors and negotiating rebates.
- Supervisory experience is an asset
- First Aid/CPR required
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, waste classifications, and reporting requirements.
- Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills to work across different teams and with clients.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills; proficiency in MS Excel and sustainability reporting platforms.

- Proven track record in implementing successful waste reduction and recycling programs
- Valid Canadian driver’s license and willingness to travel to client sites within the region / major cities within 2 Canadian provinces (GTA and Montreal Region)
- French/English verbal and written language is required

Job Description
The Waste Stream Manager serves as a subject matter expert for our on-site operations teams. This role collaborates with internal stakeholders and client sustainability teams to implement practical, data-driven, and cost-effective waste solutions. The role leads, advises on development and execution of waste management solutions across a portfolio of client accounts in the Greater Toronto and Greater Montreal areas primarily among the client sites in the manufacturing and industrial sectors. The role ensures compliance and maximizes value recovery through rebates and recycling programs, and drive continuous improvement in waste handling, segregation, reporting, and vendor performance.
