      Job Description

      The Supply Chain Warranty Manager is responsible for managing the warranty process for locomotives and rail car materials. This role ensures that all warranty claims are efficiently processed, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner. The manager will work closely with vendors, suppliers, Mechanical, and Procurement departments to maximize warranty recoveries and improve overall repair processes.

      Key Responsibilities

      1. Warranty Management
        • Review daily reports regarding material transactions across multiple asset management and ERP systems.
        • Oversee all shop storerooms and clerical workforce to ensure all relevant cores are captured, staged and properly tagged.
        • Oversee the entire warranty process for locomotives and rail cars, from initial claim to resolution.
        • Ensure all warranty claims are documented, filed, and tracked accurately.
        • Develop and implement standard operating procedures for warranty claims processing.

      1. Data Analysis and Reporting
        • Analyze warranty data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and cost-saving opportunities.
        • Generate regular reports on warranty claims, recoveries, and outstanding issues.
        • Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
        • Perform root cause analysis (5Y) on materials flagged by Car and Locomotive Engineering to ensure warranty process is followed on all assets with known faulty material(s).
      2. Vendor and Supplier Relations
        • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure warranty terms and conditions are met.
        • Collaborate with the Procurement department to negotiate warranty terms and service agreements with suppliers.
        • Serve as the primary point of contact for all warranty-related issues and disputes.
      3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
        • Work closely with maintenance, repair, and operations teams to ensure timely and effective resolution of warranty claims.
        • Collaborate with procurement and finance departments to manage warranty budgets and financial recoveries.
        • Coordinate with the legal team on any warranty disputes or litigation.
      4. Continuous Improvement
      • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the warranty process.
      • Implement SAP warranty module into ERP roll-out.
      • Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements related to warranty management.
      1. Compliance and Documentation
      • Ensure compliance with all regulatory (AAR/EPA/FRA) and company policies regarding warranties.
      • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all warranty claims and related documentation.
      • Develop and deliver training programs on warranty policies and procedures for internal teams.

      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
      • 2 years of experience in Supply Chain, Mechanical Operations, Warranty Management, Procurement or related field

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree or other verifiable advanced training
      • Experience within the rail industry primarily with locomotives and rail car maintenance processes

      Knowledge and Skills:

      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint)
      • Experience with SAP / Oracle (ERP) systems and warranty management software
