Senior Business Analyst:

Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis and Requirements Management

  • Lead discovery sessions with business and functional collaborators to understand business objectives, operational requirements, challenges, dependencies, and desired outcomes.
  • Elicit, analyze, document, validate, and maintain business, functional, workflow, reporting, and system requirements.
  • Translate complex business needs into clear requirements.
  • Develop business requirements documents, user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria, and other supporting materials as appropriate.
  • Identify gaps, dependencies, risks, and conflicting requirements and facilitate resolution across collaborator groups.

Process Analysis and Operational Enablement

  • Document and analyze current-state business processes and build scalable future-state processes.
  • Find opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate unnecessary manual work, improve controls, enhance data quality, and build consistency across programs.
  • Evaluate processes with consideration for underwriting efficiency, customer experience, employee experience, compliance, financial controls, and scalability.
  • Help establish common operating practices while recognizing legitimate differences in products, underwriting models, carrier requirements, and program structures.
  • Partner with Operations leadership to find opportunities for shared services, standardization, and improved operating models.

Application and Technology Enablement

  • Act as a link between business users and application development, configuration, integration, and support teams.
  • Assist with translating business requirements into application configuration, workflow, integration, and development requirements.
  • Participate in solution build discussions and help evaluate whether proposed solutions appropriately address the underlying business need.
  • Support enterprise application governance by helping document business rules, configuration decisions, dependencies, and change requirements.
  • Partner with application support teams to identify recurring business issues and distinguish between training, process, configuration, data, and technology needs.

Program Implementations and Integrations

  • Act as an essential Business Analyst resource for new program implementations, acquisitions, system conversions, and integration initiatives.
  • Lead or support discovery across functional areas.
  • Document products, coverages, markets, producers, rating requirements, policy lifecycle requirements, billing processes, reporting obligations, and other program-specific requirements.
  • Support data conversion activities by helping define business rules, mapping requirements, validation criteria, and reconciliation needs.
  • Partner with Implementation Management to support project planning, issue resolution, readiness assessments, and launch activities.

Testing, Implementation and Change Enablement

  • Develop or support test plans, test scenarios, encouraged results, and user acceptance testing.
  • Document defects, requirements gaps, and improvement opportunities and facilitate resolution with appropriate teams.
  • Support implementation readiness, including process documentation, procedures, training requirements, communications, and transition planning.
  • Participate in post-implementation reviews and find opportunities for continued improvement.
  • Partner with Training and Operations teams to ensure new processes and system functionality are effectively transitioned into business-as-usual operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in underwriting, business analysis, operations, process improvement, or a related field.
  • Experience working in commercial insurance, specialty insurance, MGA/MGU, program business, wholesale brokerage, or a similar insurance environment required.
  • Experience supporting technology implementations, application improvements, system conversions, or integration projects.
  • Experience with policy administration, workflow/document management, reporting, and insurance accounting systems required. Experience with the Vertafore suite of applications including IMS, ImageRight, AIM, and SureFyre are preferred.

Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
