If you have been a substitute teacher for PISD in the last 2 years you may skip filling out this application and merely be present on August 1, 2025 @ 10 am for orientation. Plan on 2 hours for this.

General Information
A substitute teacher is extremely valuable to the district as they teach a school class when the regular teacher is unavailable because of illness, personal leave, or other reasons.
If you think that you would like to be a substitute for us you must:
- Complete the online application
- Submit a transcript
- Provide a copy of your social security card and driver's license
- Submit fingerprint record (State law requires fingerprinting of substitutes.)
- Attend substitute Orientation on August 1, 2025 at 10 am. The location of this training will be the PISD Board Room located at 1209 12th Street, Palacios. Plan on about 2 hours for this.- Substitute when contacted.

Complete the online application. You must attach transcripts and certifications (if applicable) before attending orientation. Call Human Resources to complete the necessary employment process.
Step Two: Fingerprinting
If you have not been previously fingerprinted per SBEC requirements you will receive an email notifying you that fingerprinting is needed. This email will supply you with the information you need for your appointment with an L-1 fingerprinting facility. We use IdentoGo in Port Lavaca, TX. You are responsible for scheduling this appointment. The facility will accept credit/debit card, check or money order payment. Take your email information to the appointment along with a valid ID. If you have previously been fingerprinted for SBEC you will be notified to move on to the next step. Once fingerprinting has been completed, it is valid for life.

There is not a formal interview process and you will not be called for one. Once you fill out the application, your next step is to attend orientation on the 1st. If you are unable to attend on the 1st it is possible, but not certain that there may be an additional orientation in the Fall.
