      We are seeking an Academic Program Manager who will report to the Assistant Dean of Pre-Collegiate Programs and is responsible for maintaining existing and developing new programs for high school students, program evaluation, identifying and training seasonal teaching staff, and assisting with program operations.


      Specific Duties & Responsibilities


      Course Development

      • Develop new college-level courses for high school students and update curriculum for existing programs as necessary.
      • Work with content matter experts to develop new curriculum that meet the EI program pre-collegiate criteria.
      • Develop asynchronous training modules for instructors for each new program developed.


      Hiring & Program Evaluation

      • Identify and train instructors, teaching fellows, and teaching assistants for each program.
      • Debrief with teachers at the end of each program.
      • Act as the point of contact for the vendor that serves as the external evaluator.
      • Revise program curriculum or operations based on evaluation findings.
      • Apply for IRB approval for program evaluation if necessary.


      Recruiting & Admissions

      • Analyze and determine appropriate high schools and teachers to target for recruiting activities.
      • Visit high school classrooms or events to present engineering as a career and promote the programs being offered by WSE Pre-Collegiate Programs
      • Follow up with students and teachers to ensure maximum applications and enrollments.
      • Make the more difficult admission decisions such as clarifying math background and determining financial aid awards.


      Operations

      • Coordinate summer program for the 10 sections at the Homewood site.
      • Supervise EI website content updates on a timely basis.
      • Write reports for various internal and external audiences as needed (partners, sponsors, development, Dean)


      Program Growth

      • Research, analyze, and identify potential partner colleges and universities to host an in-person program.
      • Prepare MOUs for host institutions.
      • Assure fidelity of program implementation by visiting sites during the summer
      • Domestic travel required.


      Fundraising

      • Develop relationships with existing donors to continue their EI scholarship donations.
      • Find opportunities and write grant applications.


      Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

      • Knowledge of engineering field.
      • Knowledge of teaching practices for high school or college.
      • Experience with admissions decisions and financial aid decisions.
      • Experience with scaling up a program.
      • Experience working with high school students.
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
      • Understanding of changing message for target markets.
      • Planning experience, time management skills, attention to detail, follow through.
      • Experience with successful grant writing.
      • Tactful and understands when appropriate to use the phone, face to face, or email to communicate.
      • Experience with WordPress, Canvas, MS Teams, Asana, MS Office, SharePoint.
      • Fair, confident, enthusiastic, and personable.


      Minimum Qualifications
      • Master's or Ph.D. in education or specific field related to program.
      • Five years experience in all aspects of academic program administration. Supervisory experience preferred.
      • Additional experience may substitute for education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.




      Preferred Qualifications
      • Degree in engineering preferred.
      • Supervisory experience preferred.

      JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
