      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity to join our Award-winning Emergency Department, as an emergency Care Advanced clinical practitioner. Our New Emergency department offers a bespoke ergonomic space in which to deliver excellent evidence-based Emergency care. We form part of the South East London Kent and Medway trauma Network (SELKAM) as a level 2 Trauma Unit, seeing a variety of traumatic presentations and work closely with our trauma network including our pre-hospital teams and HEMS to provide the best and efficient care for patients, and excellent learning opportunities for staff. As a Qualified Emergency Care Advanced Clinical Practitioner, you will utilise advanced clinical skills, leadership and expert knowledge in clinical practice. It is envisaged that at least 80 % will be spent working in the Emergency department clinical area as part of an agreed job plan.

      Main duties of the job

      The post holder will work in close collaboration as a member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to contribute to the delivery of safe and effective clinical practice, education and training, practice, service development and research/audit within the Emergency Care service. The postholder is accountable for independent clinical assessment, examination, diagnosis, and treatment utilising advanced practice skills within an agreed scope of practice. This encompasses a comprehensive assessment of patients with un-differentiated emergency, critical acute, and traumatic presentations and developing working diagnosis and treatment plans whilst working without direct supervision

      The postholder will utilise management and leadership skills to contribute to nursing practice to improve the quality of care to patients in line with national guidance and policy for emergency care . The postholder will provide support and advice to MDT colleagues and other professional groups internally and externally as an advocate for the Trust's Emergency Care service

      Qualifications & Training

      Essential

      • Current NMC/HCPC registration.
      • 5 years minimum Emergency care experience
      • Formal teaching or mentoring qualification including ENB 998/997, or equivalent (revise for AHP roles).
      • MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) or Centre of Advancing Practice Credential or/Master's Degree in a health related subject relevant to specialist area of clinical practice & professional registration, or with date for completion of Master's programme, with standalone L7 advanced practice modules e.g. Independent prescribing.
      • Independent non-on medical prescriber qualification. ALS Provider.
      • ATNC/ATLS/ETC provider. Hold a current RCEM members EC ACP e-portfolio.

      Desirable

      • Accredited Health Management course.
      • NHS Leadership Academy qualification or equivalent RCEM credentialed ACP, or 75 % of RCEM ACP portfolio completed/near to credential
      • Degree relevant to professional registration and area of clinical practice

      • Clinical practitioner with advanced practice skills and significant post graduate/L7 experience in clinical roles within the Emergency Department setting, underpinned by the four pillars of practice.

      • Autonomous decision making and complex reasoning skills Evidence of all aspects staff management. Leadership of cross boundary projects. Leadership in regional and national networks
