      The Catalist Analytics department supports data-driven progressive organizations that boost civic participation and run successful electoral programs. We develop new statistical methods for solving unique problems associated with systematic missing data, latent variable detection, supervised modeling, and unsupervised modeling.

      As a critical part of the Analytics team, Analysts support client data requests, assist with internal research and development projects, aid in data management for the team, and help translate analytics materials to clients in an accessible and intuitive manner. Analysts are provided with opportunities for mentorship from senior analytics and technical staff both inside Catalist and through our partnerships across the community and academia.

      This position reports directly to the Deputy Director of Analytics, and works closely with members of the Client Services, Data, and Tech teams.

      This position is included in our CWA bargaining unit.

      Principle Duties & Responsibilities

      • Expertly leverage Catalist data resources, including voter files, microtargeting models, and synthetic tools in addressing client questions and needs
      • Support internal research and development projects through thoughtful analysis and clearly communicated findings
      • Assist with maintenance and development of internal Analytics data architecture
      • Communicate technical topics clearly and concisely in the form of presentations, webinars, memo drafts and technical reference documentation
      • Provide quality control to ensure Analytics deliverables are conveyed accurately and precisely
      • Other duties as needed and assigned by the Deputy Director of Analytics


      Requirements

      • 1-2 years of political campaign, analytics, and/or data experience
      • Familiarity with Catalist data, progressive political needs, voter files, and/or commercial databases
      • Familiarity with one or more of the following: data visualization, data engineering, digital media, commercial databases, applications of microtargeting models, polling and survey research, controlled experiments, mapping/GIS software, reporting, and program evaluation
      • Working knowledge of SQL, R, or Python and command line interfaces (CLI)
      • Highly motivated, curious, and collaborative
      • Strong problem-solving skills and a demonstrated capacity to thrive in evolving environments
      • Background check required


      Preferred Skills & Abilities

      • Bachelor's degree in political science, social/behavioral science, economics, statistics, or related field
      • Experience working in cloud environments such as Google Cloud Platform with tools like BigQuery and Airflow
      • Experience with version control tools such as Git


      $70,000 - $75,000 a year

      Medical and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

      Catalist offers an FSA Program that gives eligible staff the ability to pay out-of-pocket medical/dental/vision/child care expenses from pre-tax earnings.

      Transit Benefits

      Catalist also makes available a Transit benefit FSA program to eligible employees using pre-tax contributions with a company match.

      Professional Development and Remote Work Expenses

      Eligible employees may be reimbursed up to $750 each year for professional development / education and $500 for remote work expenses.
