      The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director, Security Technology, who will be reporting to the Director of Security provides leadership and direct management oversight of MoMA’s physical security technology operation and staff. Regularly interacts with Museum and Security leadership, including the Associate Director of Security Operations along with Supervisors, Control Room Operators and Officers in order to execute day-to-day functions of the team and the Museum. Regularly interacts with MoMA’s frontline staff, Building Operations and IT departments. Applies coaching, staff development, strategic planning, and emergency response experience to enhance overall departmental effectiveness, team morale, and professionalism within a multi-cultural museum environment. Applies knowledge and experience for managing all security technology projects, including access control, video monitoring systems, art safety systems along with identifying risks, inefficiencies and improvements within the team and internal processes.

      Primary responsibilities:

      • Drives the implementation of the MoMA Security department strategic plan, specifically in Security Technology in conjunction with senior Security leadership, including all resources, processes, systems, and functions under the group to maintain and effectively safeguard the Museum, its employees, trustees, visitors, physical properties, and the art.
      • Direct oversight and management of the museum’s physical security technology system(s) including access control, video management, alarm and intrusion detection. Responsible for the museum’s 24x7x365 security operations center including all policies, procedures, training and staffing.
      • Lead a strategic planning process for development, implementation and continuous improvement of all physical security technologies, design standards and the administration of all integrated security systems at all of the museum’s geographical locations.
      • Ensure all physical security technologies and design standards adhere to MoMA’s cybersecurity best practices and internal policies. Work directly with IT to continually review and evaluate these technologies to ensure compliance.
      • Manages service and maintenance contracts for security integrators whose services involve, use or impact the museum’s physical security infrastructure including vms, access control, cctv, etc.
      • Manage all critical issues and participate as a leader in response to emergencies related to the physical security infrastructure in order to implement necessary corrective actions.
      • Participates in recruitment for select open positions and makes hiring recommendations or decisions for staff vacancies; supervises assigned staff on daily basis, providing relevant training, feedback, guidance, professional development, etc.; ensures compliance with and comprehension of Museum policies and relevant collective bargaining agreement; manages the constructive discipline process, as warranted; conducts annual performance reviews with direct staff; etc.
      • Maintains open lines of communication with all direct reports and other department heads to ensure good day–to-day situational awareness and effectiveness.
      • Works collaboratively with a diverse and multicultural community.
      • Coordinates and collaborates with Information technology, Building Operations, Exhibitions, Membership, Visitor Services, Retail, and all other MoMA departments.
      • Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

      Reports to: Director of Security

      Supervisory responsibilities: In conjunction with the Director of Security, is responsible for and oversees the Physical Security Technology group including a Security Manager, Supervisor and Control Room Operators located at two locations in the NYC area.

      Requirements:

      • Bachelor’s degree and minimum 8 to 10+ years managerial experience in the security field, or equivalent. Relevant physical security technology experience (LenelS2, Genetec, Ccure, etc.) within a similar size team and/or department.
      • Outstanding interpersonal skills, and strong oral, written communication, and project management skills to include being detail oriented, organized and possessing strong time management skills.
      • The ability to work under minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously, while meeting demanding deadlines.
      • Demonstrated success in team building and collaborating across departments.
      • Must have thorough knowledge of management principles and practices and personnel supervision and staff development.
      • Experience responding to unforeseen emergencies, identifying future risks, and providing counter strategies.
      • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and evening hours to support after hours events and extended operating hours at the Museum. The scheduled days off for this position are TBD.
      • Background in law enforcement or military is a plus.
      • MoMA participates in the TSA’s Certified Cargo Screening Facility Program. Therefore, if hired, the individual must successfully complete a security threat assessment through the Department of Homeland Security in order to participate.

      Salary Range: Minimum of $160,000 to a maximum of $180,000 per annum
