Job Title : Associate or Senior Editor, Communications Psychology

Location : New York, Jersey City, Berlin or Heidelberg - Hybrid working model

      Application Deadline : February 29th, 2024

Communications Psychology seeks an Associate or Senior Editor with a broad understanding of cognitive or clinical psychology. This is a full-time position and will be located in our New York, Jersey City, Berlin or Heidelberg offices.

Communications Psychology joined the other Nature Portfolio journals in the Communications group in 2022. A fully open access journal, Communications Psychology publishes research, review and opinion articles across all areas of psychology, including clinical, cognitive, developmental, social, political, personality, organizational, and applied psychology. The journal supports robust scientific practices and champions publishing initiatives that promote open science. We are looking for a highly motivated individual who shares this commitment.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD (or equivalent) and preferably postdoctoral experience. Although all candidates will be considered, preference will be given to those with a background in cognitive or clinical psychology. A keen interest in the practice and communication of science, excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to absorb new ideas are essential. No prior editorial experience is required as full training is given, although applicants with significant editorial experience will be considered for a Senior Editor position.

The successful candidate will play an important role in shaping the representation of their field in the journal, and will work closely with the other editors and editorial board members on all aspects of the editorial process, including manuscript selection, handling peer-review and editing content for the journal. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences, virtual and in person.

Each application should include the following in a single attachment:

      1. A cover letter telling us who you are and why you want to become a full-time editor on Communications Psychology (1 page).
      2. A CV detailing your education, relevant training and employment, and any other activities that you feel demonstrate your suitability for the position (1 page).
      3. A concise discussion (500 words) of a recent scientific development in cognitive or clinical psychology, explaining why it is important for the field.

Applications will be reviewed upon receipt and should arrive no later than February 29th, 2024.
