Overview of the Section
Field Operations SA & WA within the Immigration Compliance Operations Branch is responsible for conducting a range of intelligence informed and risk-based operations and activities that improve the level of compliance with immigration laws.
Removal Operations SA & WA within the Removals Program Branch manages the removal of unlawful non-citizens (UNCs) who have no legal basis to remain in Australia to achieve the portfolio's strategic outcomes.
Removal and Field Operations SA & WA comprises Removal Operations and Field Operations teams based in Perth and Adelaide.

Duties and responsibilities:
About the role
APS6 Field Operations Officers work under operational command principles and limited direction to undertake a range of complex enforcement actions. They have an in-depth knowledge of applicable migration legislation and use their powers appropriately to prevent, detect, deter and enforce breaches of migration law within the community.
APS6 Field Operations Officers may act as an s251 warrant holder for complex immigration compliance cases. They are responsible to provide advice and guidance on procedural matters to team members and stakeholders.
APS6 Field Operations Officers exercise managerial responsibility and may be responsible for supervising a team and delegating tasks to achieve team objectives, allocating work and managing staff performance and development.
APS6 Removals Officers manage teams to plan and conduct the removal of unlawful non-citizens (UNCs) from Australia in accordance with legislation, policy and procedures. They work under limited direction to determine the status of UNCs and requirements for their removal. APS6 Removals Officers manage, plan and conduct complex removals operations in accordance with established procedures, and in partnership with relevant internal and external agencies.
APS6 Removals Officers have an in-depth understanding of the legislation and policies within which they operate and ensure that they, and their team, apply their powers appropriately.
APS6 Removals Officers are required to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to enable and support removals activities.
