      The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Public Health and Safety Division in Helena.

      This position monitors the budget and related fiscal operations to ensure adequate support for current and planned program operations. Responsibilities of this position include: Designing, developing, and maintaining budget systems, policies, and methods for programs to follow; Oversee and coordinate the preparation and submission of grant applications to attain funding for public health; and Oversee and review the development, monitoring, and management of contracts for goods and services to ensure project outcomes are met within budget and regulatory constraints.

      Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

      • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

      • Ability to understand state and federal rules and regulations related to fiscal and budgetary management.

      • Skill and understanding of budgets.

      • Meet minimum qualifications:

        • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, economics, or a related field.

        • Two years of job-related experience in finance, auditing, or accounting.

        • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

      Additional Information

      This position may be eligible for partial telework within the state of Montana. Specific conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

      This position may be eligible for a statutory $1.00 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2026.

      This position is open until filled with frequent screening of applicants. The first screening of candidates will take place on April 1, 2026.
