      Job Summary

      Participates in the work involved in the planning, organizing, business process analysis, requirements, development, acquisition, configuration, enhancements, implementation, and lifecycle of complex computer systems. Provide functional support for specific systems and of the underlying business environment, processes, and workflows. Advise and assist clients in support of system enhancements and technology roadmaps for applications, infrastructure, and services. Participate in the creation of application and/or infrastructure lifecycle strategy and roadmap solutions.

      Key Accountabilities:

      • Assists in the development of the initiatives (projects and lifecycle), and in the formulation of innovative forward-thinking strategies, plans and system roadmaps to advance business needs and reduce costs.
      • Contributes to the development of specifications and evaluation criteria for inclusion in requests for proposal and other contracting documents, providing input to acquire solutions, professional and consulting services, participating in the evaluation of vendor proposals/bids.
      • Participates in assessing the business, technical and economic viability, and practicality of the solutions in meeting client requirements.
      • Participates in planning, providing clear estimations and timelines for when activities and commitment dates will be met.
      • Keeps abreast of emerging computing trends, evolving business processes, external vendor solutions and technology platforms specific to areas of specialization.
      • Participates in the development of business process definition, including eliciting current state processes, analysis of the current business environment and facilitating the definition of future state processes and recommendations that are valid, traceable, and justifiable.
      • Participates in the development of detailed requirements, functional specifications, and application configurations.
      • Undertakes/or liaises with change and project teams engaged in the design/development of application, infrastructure and technology solutions and software installations.
      • Participates in delivering system testing and documenting requirements; configuring, automating, documenting, and performing test cases and test scripts to identify and correct issues or to verify desired functionality.
      • Under Manager’s and/or Team Lead’s direction, may lead in moderately complex or multiple moderately complex project(s), including cross-functional projects as well as guiding and developing junior team members.

      Job Requirements

      Education:

      • University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or an equivalent combination of Education, Experience and Training.

      Experience:

      • 5 years of experience in the development of business requirements and translating those business needs into functional and technical requirements for simple and complex systems.
      • Experience in configuring, supporting, testing, and implementing enhancements as well as support maintenance items in platform applications.
      • Experience supporting Maximo or similar platforms is a significant asset
      • Experience developing test cases and performing all levels of testing and defect management.
      • Experience working directly with vendors communicating issues, priorities and coordinating delivery of software fixes and enhancements.

      Knowledge :

      • Strong knowledge of Technology asset management, workforce planning, file management, custom built applications and scheduling systems.
      • Knowledge of business analysis methodologies, practices, tools, and techniques.
      • Knowledge of modern software development life cycle and software configuration management processes, practices, and techniques, including Agile, Scrum, Cloud Solutions, and DevOps.
      • Knowledge of cybersecurity and privacy considerations in systems.
      • Knowledge of project management processes and procedures.

      Abilities :

      • Ability to identify, analyze and specify business processes and requirements and determine how these can best be met within the limitations of time, budget, and staff resources.
      • Ability in writing and communicating clear, cohesive, and concise documentation, easily understandable by both technical and non-technical staff and management.
      • Strong ability to effectively communicate insights verbally, visually, and in writing.
      • Ability to establish rapport, build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, business partners and managers.

      Working conditions :

      • For this position, based out of Ottawa, NAV CANADA is offering the flexibility for new team members to work remotely with opportunities to be in-office if requested.
