      Position Summary

      At Stony Brook Medicine, a Business Manager - Environmental Services is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative and executive support and has the ability to interface with all levels of management throughout the hospital. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

      Duties of a Business Manager – Environmental Services may include the following but are not limited to:

      • Analyze monthly financial management report and financial variance reports. Identifies causes of variances and suggest corrective actions, including the implementation of new processes. Monitor process improvement initiatives on a regular basis. Develop and maintain relevant automated cost center reports to assist in fiscal analysis. Discrepancies, unexpected expenses, etc. are brought to the attention of the Director of Finance and Business Operations for Facilities.
      • Completes paperwork and justification for all budget adjustments whenever necessary.
      • Monitor operating budgets assigned to the East Campus Hospital Custodial Services Department. Performs monthly variance audits (Dashboards) to ensure that the department is within budget and not projected to exceed budget targets.
      • Coordinate and tracks budget transfers to the Finance Division. Reconcile budget to actual expenditures.
      • Establish policies and procedures for all business functions of the department, and monitor compliance to ensure that we stay within University and Hospital fiscal policy, and be "audit ready" in all fiscal areas.
      • Oversee functions for state employees, recruitment, performances and evaluations, etc.Analyzing staff, tracking vacancies, overtime and provide monthly reports.
      • Develop and monitor annual Housekeeping budgets for existing hospital and MART/New Bed Tower.
      • Assist in departmental capital planning and 5 year strategic planning.
      • Oversees and manages all purchasing/procurement functions for the housekeeping division and authorizes expenditures on all housekeeping cost centers. Prepares and works with procurement for all housekeeping contracts and assists with setting up contracts and establishing purchase orders for all existing services a well as new initiatives. Ongoing monitoring and financial tracking of all contracts and agreements as well as approval of invoicing.
      • Create tracking mechanism and monitor all overtime for the division.
      • Other duties as assigned.

      Qualifications

      Required:

      • Bachelor’s degree
      • At least 4 years of business related administrative experience
      • At least 3 years of financial management experience
      • Experience with procurement of goods and services
      • Must possess computer proficiency in Microsoft software programs

      Preferred

      • Master’s Degree or MBA
      • 5 or more year’s of experience working with budgets
      • Experience with NY state procurement processes
      • 5 or more year’s of experience working with procurement software
      • Experience working in a healthcare or hospital setting
      • Familiarity of the state financial reporting system
      • Experience with NYS procurement process and procedures

      Anticipated Pay Range:

      The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $73,440 - $87,210 / year.

      The above salary range (or hiring range) represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

      In addition, all UUP positions have an additional $3,087 for location,
