What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Oversee the quality of data within the Cancer Registry and identify areas for improvement
- Train new employees and independent contractors on data collection and quality assurance processes
- Facilitate and lead Cancer Registry Quality Assurance Committee meetings
- Implement changes to data collection protocols based on identified issues
- Conduct quality control audits and maintain performance worksheets for team members
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of five years of experience as an Oncology Data Specialist in a hospital or central registry setting
- Excellent knowledge of Cancer Registry data and coding rules
- Demonstrated educational and teaching experience in a Cancer Registry environment
- Experience working with a computerized cancer registry database
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS)
- Additional experience in quality assurance roles within healthcare settings
- Familiarity with American College of Surgeon's Commission on Cancer accreditation standards
