He angitūtanga: The opportunity
Join te Pokapū Āheinga (the Capability Hub) at Auckland Council. We are dedicated to supporting our kaimahi (employees) with learning, performance, career growth and employee engagement and together create an Auckland we can all be proud of.
As a Capability Intern, you will assist in various aspects of capability including the development of capability and learning products with a focus on Māori and Pasifika kaimahi and cultural capability, learning services, and employee engagement. You will work with different roles in te Pokapū Āheinga and across the wider business to achieve short-term deliverables and see the wider opportunities of working at Auckland Council.
You will also have the opportunity to understand existing and new processes and systems to effect long-term outcomes aimed at enabling kaimahi to be the best they can be.
Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou: What we offer
Embark on a journey of professional growth and hands-on experience with the Auckland Council Internship Programme. Designed for students in their penultimate year of a bachelor's degree, or in a continued masters programme, this paid three-month summer internship, running from 18th November 2024 to 14 February 2025, offers full-time work that aligns with your field of study.
You'll engage in meaningful work, contributing to the development of Auckland as a world-class city, while receiving career development opportunities.
As an intern, you'll be immersed in a supportive environment, with mentorship and networking opportunities that pave the way for a potential future within the council. You’ll be part of Auckland Council’s internship whānau and will be supported every step of the way by a team who want you to succeed including a buddy, liaison, Careers Team, and the wider intern cohort.
Upon completion, interns may receive priority consideration for the Graduate Programme, setting the stage for a robust career start.
He kōrero mōu: About you
You have a keen interest in learning and development and are eager to gain practical experience in this area. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to engage effectively with diverse teams and individuals. You are proactive, detail-oriented, and have a natural ability for problem-solving.
Some knowledge of te reo me ōna tikanga Māori or Pasifika language/s and culture is preferred. Your passion for supporting others’ growth and fostering a positive organisational culture is what truly sets you apart.
