  Responsibilities

  Job Summary: Monitor security, fire, video, and other essential systems and alarms in all H-E-B stores, administrative buildings, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities, and communicate those alarms to the appropriate emergency response entity. Central Station operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year; Operators work rotating shifts, and nighttime shifts.What is the work? (other duties may be assigned)- Processes and prioritizes emergency / non-emergency calls; provides assistance; informs appropriate persons- Determines the severity of situations based on detailed information gathered from the caller- Monitors security cameras and alarm systems- Updates alarm pass codes for each location- Uses the video equipment to verify alarms- Facilitates emergency action plans and disaster management protocol- Applies basic knowledge of Access Control System for all facilities, including badge maintenance- Assists and educates H-E-B Partners on the use of the security alarm systems- Performs related administrative duties, such as maintaining logbooks and other record-keeping tasks as assignedPreferred Education and Experience- High school diploma or equivalent- 0+ years of experience in Security / Central Station- Experience in call center work- Experience in alarm monitoring- 60 WPM typing speed is a plusPreferred Key Competencies- General knowledge of access control, camera, and burglary / fire alarm systems- Knowledge of retail store operations- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications- Verbal / written communications skills- Ability to communicate with diverse groups, using appropriate judgment- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations- Ability to interact with high-energy callers- Ability to accurately enter information into computer systemPhysical and Other Requirements- Function in a fast-paced, retail, office environment- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays- Work extended hours; may work over 40 hours- Work weekends and holidays, and work rotating schedules to include overnight shifts (mandatory)- Manage multiple hours of computer work daily- Sit for extended periods- Regularly lift 20 lbs or more- Successfully register with State of Texas as Security Alarm Monitor09-2016
