The Opportunity
We are seeking a Chief Nursing Officer/Vice President for Patient Care Services (CNO/VP PCS) to elevate BWFH’s foundation of compassionate care and clinical excellence. As a representative of both administration and the nursing population, this role will have a dual reporting structure: to the BWFH hospital president (budget and operations), to the BWH CNO/VP PCS (professional development, education, research, and workforce planning), and jointly to both for quality and on-site leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of nursing and associated patient care services at BWFH, employing effective management and leadership skills to deliver outstanding, safe, highly skilled care across the full range of care settings.
• Design and implement innovative, sustainable care models that strengthen health while improving the patient experience.
• Promote excellence in nursing practice and patient care outcomes through active participation/membership in the hospital board and other high-level governing, decision-making, and strategic planning structures within the organization.
• Share accountability with the senior leadership team for the institution’s financial performance, patient satisfaction, and promotion of a healthy work environment that creates a just culture of mutual respect and collaboration.
• Assure that interdisciplinary, professionally competent, compassionate care is provided to patients, regardless of site of care or ability to pay.
• Promote continuous learning and professional development of every member of the Nursing Department.
• Champion an environment that cultivates a new generation of outstanding clinicians by enabling advanced training for nurses and nursing students. Continually aim to advance shared governance, evidence-based practice, and nursing research for the greater advancement of nursing science.
• Head the institution's initiatives in the monitoring, continuous improvement, and overall excellence in patient care, focused on patients' and clinicians' needs.
• Promote and value a diverse and inclusive community and aim to build a workforce reflective of the diversity of the patient population and the local community, focusing on equal access to quality care, employment, and advancement opportunities encompassing the full spectrum of human diversity: race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin, and all the other forms of human presence and expression that make us better able to provide innovative and ground-breaking healthcare and research.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree required (If not in nursing, then either a baccalaureate or doctoral degree in nursing will be required) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced degree in management or business is preferred
• DNP/PhD preferred.
• Registered nursing license in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
• Nurse Executive Advanced Board certification (NEA- BC) required.
