      The Circuit Court/Friend of the Court/Family Court Administrator (hereafter Circuit Court Administrator) oversees all service delivery aspects of the Circuit and Friend of the Court. The Circuit Court Administrator works directly with the Circuit and Family Court judges to provide and improve court services.


      Typical Examples of Work Performed:

      (The following examples are intended to be descriptive but not restrictive.)

      Develops business and strategic plans/initiatives for the Circuit and Friend of the Court and Juvenile Detention Center;

      Evaluates court operations and functions, while generating ideas and improvements;

      Directs, plans, organizes, and implements programs to provide and improve court services;

      Analyzes financial and operations data;

      Ensures consistency and compliance with established laws and court rules;

      Reviews, develops, and implements policies and procedures;

      Directs the quasi-judicial work of the Family Division Referees and serves as a referee when needed;

      Presents board motions to the Board of Commissioners and makes presentations to County and Court leadership;

      Participates in the preparation of annual budgets and reviews financial reports to ensure adherence to the budget;

      Identifies funding opportunities and coordinates the development, submission and management of grant applications;

      Assists with management and oversight of the electronic content management system, and collective bargaining agreements;

      Participates in meetings with community organizations regarding service delivery for those involved in the court system;

      Serves as the American Disabilities Act Coordinator;

      Investigates and resolves complaints and concerns from customers and constituents;

      Performs other related duties as assigned.


      Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school; AND

      Licensed to practice law in Michigan; AND

      Six (6) years of full time increasingly responsible experience in governmental, organizational, or business administration.


      Certification as a Certified Court Manager and Fellow of the Institute for Court Management may be considered in lieu of experience.

      PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

      An employee in this class performs generally sedentary or light physical work activities requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds.

      ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

      The Circuit Court Administrator generally works in the Family Court office. Upon approval and completion of a probationary period, a hybrid work schedule may be available.

      EVALUATION CONTENT

      The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.

      PURPOSE

      The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
