      Job Summary: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Civil Engineer/Project Manager for our Houston office with at least 5-10 years’ experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. Experience in the Houston area is desired. The role will work collaboratively in a team environment providing engineering design for public works infrastructure and transportation projects. Duties include but not limited to, initial project research, plan production and management of plan production staff, plan processing and management of plan processing efforts, construction administration and project close out efforts

      Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).

      Duties/Responsibilities:

      • Function as a Lead Civil Engineer
      • Prepare preliminary engineering reports.
      • Research jurisdictional requirements for appropriate incorporation into design and construction drawings
      • Prepare of proposal/contract and of project work plans and schedule
      • Prepare design and construction drawings using AutoCAD and information obtained from research activities
      • Coordinate client management and marketing efforts for future work.
      • Prepare GIS exhibits using ArcGIS
      • Conduct site visits and documents findings
      • Work directly with clients and directing a staff with varied levels of experience and expertise
      • Attend, record, and distribute meeting minutes and assist with general project correspondence
      • Writes or prepares graphic materials for presentations or documents
      • Lead a team of engineers and drafters

      Qualifications:

      • BS Degree in Civil Engineering
      • Must be a licensed PE in Texas with a minimum of 5-10 years of experience
      • Experience with producing accurate and complete construction plans and reports
      • Ability to work independently in a team environment and to manage multiple projects with limited supervision
      • Excellent verbal and written skills, communicating engineering information clearly and concisely
      • Ability to train staff and review work for quality assurance
      • Solid leadership and management skills, self-motivated, and possess a strong ability to meet deadlines, satisfy clients, and solve complex problems
      • Knowledge of MicroStation, AutoCAD, and Civil3D are all a plus
      • Highly organized and detail oriented
      • Willingness/ability to assume increased responsibilities when presented
      • Consistently deliver proactive communication with clients. When client issues arise, address or expeditiously escalate to discipline lead
      • Develop relationships with clients that allows for ease in communications and problem solving
      • Initiate and lead kickoff calls or high-level design calls with client in addition to preparing monthly forecasting and client cost estimates when appropriate
      • Troubleshoot issues and recommend solutions, effectively implement and document for internal and external stakeholders

      Physical Requirements:

      • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
      • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
