- Serve as a trusted communications advisor and coach to assigned business leaders and their management teams.
- Understand the business strategies for assigned stakeholders and define strategic communications plans in support of business goals and priorities.
- Advise on and develop executive communications themes and messaging, including speech writing, presentation development and business updates.
- Create, implement and oversee external communications programs and public relations activities, including product announcements, news release development, media events and interview execution, and news coverage dissemination. This could include travel to key domestic and international tradeshows and other venues involving media and company executives.
- Develop effective relationships with key members of the media and serve as an official company spokesperson with responsibility for media relations strategies for local, trade, business, consumer and international media.
- Coordinate projects with international public relations agencies to ensure relevant coverage in key global markets.
- Direct internal communications activities focused on informing our employee community and empowering them to reach personal and business goals.
- Develop and execute strategic thought leadership programs to enhance public image of senior leaders and the organization as a whole with the external community.
- Create and/or coordinate tailored communications materials including but not limited to press releases, bylined articles, customer stories, internal announcements, and social media content by leveraging internal and external resources.
- Ensure that brand values and visual identity are incorporated into deliverables.
- Regularly monitor and report on the results of communications plans.
- Provide counsel and support for crisis management and executive communications, including aiding in the preparation of key external presentations, talking points and/or speeches as needed for senior leaders.
- Partner with other Textron business units to leverage communications opportunities, specifically around joint presence at tradeshows and events.

- Bachelor’s degree required in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required in media relations and/or strategic communications
- Experience in aviation industry and global exposure preferred
- Ability to independently and effectively counsel clients
- Must have outstanding writing, editing and proofreading skills utilizing AP style
- Excellent verbal communications skills are also essential
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence within all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
- Motivated, detail-oriented and self-directed to deliver high quality results, while remaining flexible and responsive when faced with multiple, time-sensitive requests
- Proven track record developing content for a variety of channels (print, email, web, social media, PowerPoint, video, etc.)
- Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources, analyze information, and recommend and direct courses of action to be taken
- Strategic approach with a focus on the ‘bigger picture’ – taking separate projects and developing a narrative that connects them
- Experience with change management initiatives and employee engagement strategies
- Creativity, interpersonal savvy and the ability to manage diversity
- Job located in Wichita, Kansas and may include domestic and international travel (20%)

JOB SUMMARY:
The Communications Business Partner is responsible for overall communications strategies related to specific business lines and departments within Textron Aviation. This position represents Textron Aviation’s leadership position in the marketplace and the is an advocate of the company’s brand promise and steward of the company’s corporate narrative and global reputation. The Communications Business Partner works closely with members of the Senior Leadership Team and additional business leaders in deploying key communications plans and content to support business priorities.The position will create and implement comprehensive external and internal communications strategies designed to inform, educate and engage Textron Aviation audiences and enhance the company’s position in the market.
