      Job summary

      It is an exciting time to join our welcoming and friendly team of 27 Anaesthetic Consultants based at Glangwili General Hospital. The successful candidate will support the current establishment of NHS and academic staff contributing to the on-call rota, and providing senior anaesthetic cover for elective, emergency and trauma surgery

      There are opportunities for the successful candidate to deliver clinical care on emergency and trauma lists and gain further experience and expertise in a variety of specialities, including general surgery, ENT, and Ophthalmology.

      Main duties of the job

      The post is for a Consultant Anaesthetist with a specialist interest in Peri-operative medicine. The post holder will provide high quality care for patients within the anaesthetic Department and provide perioperative care for elective and emergency patients across the range of specialities available within Hywel Dda UHB. The candidate will join a team of consultants with an interest in Peri-operative medicine, doing High Risk pre-assessment, CPET clinics and assisting with our Pre-habilitation service.

      • 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices); dental practices (including four orthodontic); 97 community pharmacies; 43 general ophthalmic practices; and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers
      • Numerous mental health and learning disabilities services

      Qualifications

      Essential

      • Full registration and a License to Practice with the General Medical Council.
      • On the GMC Specialist Register (including via Portfolio Pathway (CESR)/European Community Rights) or will have CCT due within six months of interview date.
      • Valid Certified Advanced Life Support.
      • Where a sub-specialty interest is required sub-specialty training should be to a level appropriate for UK consultant sub-specialist practice - fellowship or equivalent level experience.

      • Additional Higher qualification(s).
